It's particularly awesome because for so long the conventional wisdom has been that you need to use a top-5 draft pick to get a AAA key forward. We got 2 for chump change

That rule is generally still in play, especially in this modern era of Father Son picks going at/near their true draft value.

It's a miracle of selection, a beautiful piece of work, by the staff to bring in two high quality tall forwards for the price of zero draft points, one rookie list spot and hot bunking another for a year.

In a competition where some clubs get an extra first or second round pick every season, it's barely keeping us up with the pack.

We are riding on the fruits of the drafts from when we were rubbish ten years ago.

you know the pre-season's too long when people are getting sucked in to discussions with Silent Alarm, our OG hipster (before hipsters became mainstream and he had to chop the beard, sell the axe and craft beer kit, and reinvent)

as the kids say smugly, 'do better'

People are losing their minds over a single minor calf injury to a senior player in match simulation, 6 weeks before round 1. Back in the late Lyon years we had half the team going off the rails at this point of the season. I think we need a bit of perspective here, and we really really need some actual football to talk about

I don't understand why our fan base is so desperate to look for things to melt about
Is it only 6 weeks?! Urgh, another year that will go astoundingly quickly. I thought last year raced by...

That has been noticed.
Did you also happen to notice that the very obvious observation I made—that players only go off after one single quarter of an intraclub if they have an injury concern—was immediately vindicated.

The good news now is we can keep our structure if Sean misses games.

Last year Reidy was a liability when he played.

Mason Cox will surprise a few I think.

He got a kick up the arse when Collingwood let him go and he has really applied himself in his time at the club.

Sometimes a change is good for older players.
If Maxon Cox bobs up in a Prelim and Grand final ,clunks a couple and kicks a couple of goals that wins us a flag finally, then I reckon that he will be or best moneyball pick yet

Hi all, we have just under a week left of voting for the Poster of the Year. Three people are tied in the lead, yet only eight people have voted so if you haven't yet please take a few minutes to vote on your favourite Game preview of 2025.

Every vote matters!

If Darcy had a durable body he’d be Max Gawn.

Great troll. chef's kiss

Max Gawn's first six years played 39 games. He averaged 12 games a year for the first ten years of his career.

Shameless plug of the supercoach thread!

13 spots left!

Yes. Their respective seasons as 26 year olds are remarkably similar. Gawn really got his career moving after that.
