Yeah you'd like to think that, however it's the most widely read financial newspaper in the country both hard copy and digital.

Well there aren’t that many financial papers only now are there.

And those that read it are primarily business and financiers and probably Coalition so keep the pile on to Chalmers going.

Who cares if all you are doing is talking to the converted.
LOL

You seem to care by your reaction, can't have any publication not posting nice things about Kirky's ALP and their failures

What a joke!!

That's a lot of scaremongering by the usual suspect. Please list all the land which has been lost due combating climate change... as opposed to the land & property destroyed because of climate change. Australia still produces well in excess to it's food needs. The only time we have shortages is when we have extreme weather events.

Extreme weather events now cost $4.5B pa in insurance & the actual cost would be much, much higher! This is 3x higher than 3 decades ago.

The Bicks do **** all to combat climate change approach will only increase extreme weather events & further threaten the reliability of our food security.

You will no doubt laugh at this post... but climate change is not a laughing matter!

You know his position on this, he’s not saying do **** all, but rushing to net zero when we are a pissant country will achieve nothing.

You call it scare mongering, but he asked some legitimate questions which they couldn’t answer. Doesn’t that concern you a little?

Lol, if you believe that's Bicks official position after all his anti-renewable pro-fossil fuel posting, I have a bridge to sell you!

Have you fact checked Matt Canavan's BS claims? He is a known lying scaremonger & just because he is a good bully, doesn't means he is honest! Where are all these farmlands which are being bought up in the name of climate change? Or perhaps we are losing more farmland to urbanisation for our housing needs.

You do realise Australia net export $72B of food per year? The only time we have a shortage is after natural disasters. Think about that & do some actual research, rather than do a Matt Canavan posing questions without any facts.

Why couldn’t they answer his questions?

They didn’t dispute the 107 million tonnes, shouldn’t they know how we get to that?

And it’s more than just exporting, if farmland is being bought up, what happens to those communities?

We produce 3 times the food we need and we export approx 70% of our agricultural production.

Matt Canavan could lie straight in bed. A climate change denier so anything he says should be dismissed - he is a fossil fuel advocate.

And those insurance losses will be subsidised by those living in areas less impacted by climate change. Eventually if things continue like they do, it will unsustainable to live in certain areas as insurance premiums and costs will go thru the roof. And I particularly have never agreed with government handouts to those that don’t insure their property.

Australia would be a better place if Canavan was put on one of Musk's rockets and fired into the sun. Actually, that would be deeply ironic, given that the sun is just a big fusion generator, which isn't expected to run out of fuel for a few billion years.

I didnt see anything particularly wrong with his questioning. Yes its heavily influenced by his voting base but his points still stand. Its likely where they would look to mandate laws would be where farmers are required to line fields, fences and access roads with trees. This would lower yield as shade, land would push crops away from fences. so i think its going to have a whole host of problems here. Farmers are already on not only an unstable income but they often have low profit margins. So reducing yield by even minor margins can have a massive impact.

Add to the fact that if some farms become unprofitable we do risk losing people from the land. Plus some areas mean growing trees are practically impossible due to soil, weather and climate conditions already in existance, im not sure how its fair to punish those farmers who are in prime climate conditions and burden them with the cost.

Im not saying dont do it, but this solution isnt as black and white as it seems.

Just because someone can't answer Canavan's bullying on the spot, doesn't mean it was true!

Would have thought the actual facts was more important to you, rather than someone's ability to debate lies?

Please list me all this valuable land which is being lost due to action for climate change as opposed to due to climate change.

Didn't see Bicks here when they wanted to drill for gas in Australia's most productive food bowl area...

Funny that!

You’re sounding like Clam, asking me stupid questions whilst refusing to answer a basic one.

They didn’t dispute 107 million tonnes, why? And it has to come from somewhere.

Yet you haven't been able to list any significant land lost by this claim.

So you just believe anything hey.

Our secret agency doesn’t believe it should be accountable... which was one of the reasons we need a Royal Commission.

Where did it say that exactly?

Given the ABC's history regards making false claims that have cost taxpayers significant amounts of money in damages ASIO is well within their rights to warn them to stick to facts.

Kane you’re being silly. I don’t need to list the significant land, the experts couldn’t, how would I know?

But that’s irrelevant, because the key is the 107 million tonnes, the EXPERTS did not dispute that and given you’re not either, that says it all and that has to come from somewhere.

Anyway, if you’re going to continue to deflect by asking stupid questions, have a good one.

So you know the claims he's made are incorrect,, if so let's see your evidence. One things absolutely for sure he will have done his research, you not so much.

Coming from the renew economy's number one fanbois let's have your evidence that Canavan's figures aren't correct and factual. Seems the folks there that are supposed to be fully across their portfolio didn't have a clue.

Wow.. you butted into a conversation I was having with another poster on here.. started making claims.. and I simply asked you to back your claims with something substantive and because you couldnt you squealed like a little stuck pig that “Clam is asking me stupid questions”.. then after refusing to back your own claims, you started demanding I answer your questions!

Bahahaha.. you got exposed for peddling nonsense and not knowing what you were talking about and so you desperately tried to shift the conversation with a strawman arguement.

Your questioning was ignored… and over a week later your still melting down over it..

Bit obsessive from you George..

Hope they've got 2 seats on that rocket so Bowen meets the same fate.

You’ve got a funny definition of “melting” and that’s quite ironic coming from you, seems me mentioning your name triggered you.

You asked a stupid question even economists can’t answer, so why demand it of me? I therefore asked you equally stupid questions, which given you made the claim about consumers first, you should have been able to answer. Unless you’re a hypocrite.

Anyway, I’ll go with the economists and RBA stating government spending has impacted inflation.

Future not looking too bright for Aussie's living standards under this ALP's stewardship.

RBA issues dire warning on economic growth

The Reserve Bank of Australia has forecast the worst medium-term economic growth ever, which economists warn will erode Australians’ living standards and put more pressure on the federal government’s deteriorating budget.

The latest central bank forecasts, showing the economy is expected to grow just 1.6 per cent over the year to June 2028, came as RBA governor Michele Bullock on Friday confirmed the link between government spending, inflation and interest rates to parliament’s economic committee.
