4 weeks from Friday. We'll risk him if can walk in Rd 2 at least. Is it 4 weeks from now or 4 games?
Couldn’t agree more. We’ve done collectively SFA to entice him to stay. Every club tweaking their midfield will offer him 4-5 years at $800k~ with a view to ‘fix’ him. Pies, Hawks, WCE all have cap next year and could definitely use a player of his ilk.
I’d have it at 50/50 that he signs with us. If he does, 5% chance it’s more than 2 years.
How is it one of the biggest halfwits known to mankind is smarter than our whole coaching panel?
Or our fitness staffSend him to Germany.
LOL. C’mon Mate. Of course there is cause for concern. The poor dude has pinged more hamstrings than Clokey has mates and Clokey has plenty of mates. Just ask him. :stern lookHis best pre-season in his time playing footy, hasn't been overly professional in the past ( apparently) but is getting there, so again, I'm not lying awake at night worrying.
Maybe last year it would have ripped off the bone is my point.
Risk : rewardThe obvious answer is that Wardlaw ticked off all the boxes to play time, and the club wanted to manage him in a lower stress environment.
The fact people say the VFL is meaningless stumps me, because so is the AFL practice match. It's the preseason it is all about getting people kms into the legs, and players adjusting to the rigours of league footy. It's all equally meaningless, or equally not, depending on how you see things.
Yeah no one’s going to offer 5 years bud
Risk : reward, as someone else wrote. If we under-value GW, the list of clubs lining up to offer him the moon and stars will be 18 long. He has a collection of attributes that no other player in the comp does.If he left and went on to miraculously heal and become a reliable performer it would sting a bit but to be honest not throwing time and money at players who can’t stay fit might be the kind of ruthlessness we need to show as an organisation if we are to ever improve. He’s is going to miss at least the first few theoretically winnable games and we are not a club who can afford that from our ‘stars’.
A Pies supporting mate truly believes our issues are inherited. Kevin White left the Pies and the next year they play in a GF. He was so frustrated with the lack of availability of players and ability to run both ways the previous season. I am no expert but its not like you would say we are one of the fitter sides going around
I'm clutching onto anything here. When he brought it up I was hoping there was another out there that could magically transform our ability to compete for longer. Current fitness regime obviously isn't working, although I imagine its a team of fitness staff rather than the direction of 1 personI can't imagine it's as simple as pinning it on one guy, but I do find amusing the idea that Kevin White is this cursed man wandering from club to club and leaving misfortune in his wake.
