FTA-TV Which TV shows are you watching now (2)

I haven't seen most of the 'must watch' tv shows...the Wire, Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Ozark etc etc...feels like way too late to try and get onto it now.

I watched a few eps of it but again, missed the cultural wave. I prefer limited series over ones that have huge arcs, I just don't have the attention span.

I've seen Deadwood. Loved it.

They're at that level. If I was to pick just one it would be Deadwood. Ian McShane probably tips the scales in it's favour, but those other two are of that quality.

One thing that's common between all three shows and rarely mentioned is how much humour is in there. Nowhere near enough to call the shows anything but dramas, but enough that there's always a bit of natural, often dark humour scattered throughout. It sets these shows (and others) apart.

Neither have I. Mafia/gang stuff doesn't interest me so I never bothered with The Sopranos. I always meant to check out The Wire but just never got around to doing it.

Yeah, I worded that badly. Have been meaning to watch The Wire for ages but have only just got a streamer with it available. Need to get started. Separately, I have no particular interest in The Sopranos, despite its reputation because I just don’t really care for mob life stories.

You should. You really should. Words cannot accurately describe how much you really should watch both of those shows.

Plus Deadwood . You need to watch that too.

Deadwood is a funny one for me. I have watched it multiple times and have enjoyed it every time, but I find myself losing concentration during episodes and having to always rewind whenever I have done though a rewatch. I think it’s because it’s a lot slower paced than other shows I have watched and each episode is right on 60 minutes. If the episodes were 10-15 minutes shorter, I probably wouldn’t have this issue.

I always get shouted down for this but I watched the Sopranos and didn't enjoy it at all. By the end I wanted everyone in it to die because it was just a bunch of horrible, selfish people doing horrible, selfish things. Basically the Trump family with less gold and more overt violence.

I think it could have something to do with the verbosity of the script at times too. You can't really afford to zone out too much otherwise 5 minutes have gone by and you're like wait.. what was he saying?
