The Hawks have two games left in the season before they commence their finals campaign and they still have the task of securing a top four finish and the coveted double chance. A win last week over Collingwood was just the tonic for the Hawks, but they can't yet afford to relax, as they're fourth only on percentage from Williamstown. In the meantime, Werribee has no chance of playing finals this season, so they're only playing for pride, but they should not be underestimated. Last weekend, they had a very comfortable 47 point win over Coburg (just Werribee's fifth of the season) so odds are they'll be feeling good about themselves.
Box Hill's competitors for a top four finish are in for an interesting weekend, with fifth placed Williamstown playing Richmond at Punt Road Oval at 12.30pm on Saturday, while sixth placed Collingwood are on the road to seventh placed Port Melbourne (both clubs are a game behind the Hawks).
The Hawks have a couple of tough weeks ahead, hosting second placed Casey Demons the following weekend, and then finishing the home and away season against third placed Geelong at Box Hill City Oval, so a win is vital to ensure the Hawks maintain their form.
Teams to follow.
In the meantime, an inaccurate VFLW Hawthorn went down to the Darebin Falcons last weekend by four points, with the Hawks kicking 3.7.25 to Darebin's 4.5.29. The Hawks will have a chance to get back onto the winners' list as they host the Western Bulldogs at Box Hill City Oval on Sunday, 12 August 2018, from 2.00pm. Hawthorn currently sits third following the loss, a game behind the NT Thunder (which has played an extra game compared to Hawthorn) and 1.5 games behind the unbeaten Collingwood. The Bulldogs come into the game in sixth position on the ladder, with six wins from 11 matches.
