Wasn't Tom Bugg desperate for another chance at AFL level ?? I wonder what changed ??

His company Zooz (http://www.zooz.com.au/) went from Startup to Multimillion dollar international company in the space of 7 months.
Football then became a hassle and was getting in the way.

It does smell. Surely, if it is accepted at face value, Bugg is breaching his contract and should face appropriate penalties: he has no acceptable excuses.
Carlton's recruitment diligence is certainly lacking.
But a player can retire anytime they wish & it's not a breach of contract

This is what happens when you recruit dickheads. See ya later - don't let the door hit you.

Good luck with those amazing business interests by the way - I look forward to seeing the ASX float.

Really? It's hardly a retirement when he's fit and keen to go one minute and then changes his mind to go and allegedly get more money somewhere else. Smells like a clear-cut breach of contract to me. It's not like he is an old crock who has just suffered a career-ending injury. Put the shoe on the other foot: what would happen if the club decided to "retire" him having belatedly decided he wasn't really what they had wanted?

Do you remember the Mal Michael retirement .....then delisted, and then comes out of retirement to join an opposition club

Wow, what a shitshow. How else are Lolton going to lose players. Cripps to run off to Tibet to become a Buddhist monk?

Didn't Essendon spend a long time in his ear and then offer him an insane amount of money to do so ??
Correct ....played 2 seasons at Essendon, after retiring from Brisbane ......now that's manipulation of the rules, something Essendon are more than comfortable doing, as we know

Are you serious?

He can quit when he likes and get paid what he has earned, not a penny more. Carlton have said to him when they gave him a contract something like " you're pretty much a shit, bottom of the barrel footballer but you played for GWS, so little SOS stands to attention at the thought of that and lets be fair, you are probably a ton better than the shit we put on the field last year, here is a 12 month Rookie contract"

So, either party can quit the contract but as long as Bugg fulfils all of his obligations as far as the contract goes, then Carlton can't cut him, without paying out his contract. If Carlton has fulfilled it's part of the contract and Bugg quits, then he is only entitled to what he earned to the day he quit. There is nothing for Carlton to gain by taking Bugg to court for breach of contract for quitting

He sent them spiraling to the bottom in his final year. Regular 100 point bashings were taking place.

We owe a lot to Micky M.
I reckon if he could have built a team he would have been alright.

Look, I agree absolutely with every word you've written, including that Carlton have nothing to gain by suing, but it's still technically a breach of contract. Bugg has also shown himself to be a flog.
