Drag this ****ing idiot out of the attack. Putrid. Does not deserve the new ball.

If Paine was keen on a declaration, why did he score so slowly? I would've preferred to see him show he's capable of something other than Peter Nevill style scrapping.
To make sure someone was with Patterson to allow him a century.

Lol at Thirimanne's Test record - 31 matches, 23.01 average (1 century, 5 fifties, 6 not outs to boost the average, too), 38.40 strike rate. Rubbish for a specialist batsman.

Averages 48.58 at a strike rate of 51.10 in FC cricket outside of Tests, so he's clearly just not comfortable at Test level, despite numerous opportunities. Probably just a symptom of the lack of batting depth Sri Lanka has, that he's been given so many opportunities.

That's why I wouldn't mind Harris. Has a good technique and I'd back him to hit 40s-50s and prevent the collapses that lost us the Ashes back in 2015. Shaun Marsh should be capable but he's just way too prone to going for nothing that it's not worth it. Shane Watson is another who you could back for a reasonable score in all conditions and I'd expect Harris to be the same.

I'm not convinced about Warner and Harris opening together.

Don't get me wrong, I think Harris is a good young player that has potential but you don't want two dashers at the top in England, facing the new cherry in England that's hooping all over from Anderson and Broad. In England, the aim must be to survive by losing as less wickets as possible till 20 overs or so. It doesn't matter even if you score just 30 runs in those 20 overs, but the duke ball typically starts swinging early and starts doing more after 10 overs or so, atleast it did so in the last season.

You don't want two openers throwing their hands in the first 20 overs. Harris is an exciting batsman but he's a bit of a compulsive cutter and what England will do is stack fielders in the point region and behind square, and keep bowling outside off to him. My ideal first choice combination is Warner-Renshaw with Harris as the back up opener, but unfortunately, Renshaw is in terrible form. I hope the lad regains form in the Shield season because he's the ideal opener in english conditions.
