I'll be really keen to see if GAJ can be damaging as a small forward. I have my concerns with his shoulders and perhaps his ability to mark overhead as a result.

I'm not sure what to expect from him this season if he's playing down there. He should kick +30 goals if he plays most games, but whether that's a pass mark for him, I'm not sure yet. I don't think our other small forwards could hit that many goals in a full season, not at this stage, it could be different in another year or two though.

I really like that Gaz said improving his game is important to him. With his hip strength Gaz should win one on one contests + his ability to snap goals is phenomenal. Gaz is still going to spend a little time in the Midfield. At least Gaz will provide another strong target for oppo Defenders, but enough to help distract them from Tomahawk?

From Friday night:

In: Dahlhaus, Ratugolea, Stanley, Narkle

Out: Abbott, Murdoch, Taylor, O’Connor
Add Menzel to the outs and Rohan to the ins and four months later without having any idea about how preseason has gone is that about right?

Yeah, I think he can be dangerous up forward, mainly for his crumbing, creativity in assists and goal awareness. I just don't expect any overhead or one on one marking from him, unlike his old man.

He's got those sloping shoulder's... I think he may always look a bit slender. But yeah, you'd think he'd need to get to 102-105kgs for his height.
I just think that he might struggle against the more physical ruckmen. We'll have to wait and see though...

Can Clarke play as a winger? It would seem he has the attributes but I just have not seen enough of him. Fogarty is like the forgotten guy ..and is one id like to see as the new mid group asap..as id dont think we will see the best of him till he is in the midf. Ablett forward will take someones spot.
Cakeatoo ... is starting to look like tempting empty calories. A fit and firing NC is 100% in our best but we have to get a new group that can play enough together that they become the team.He simply must get in the side and stay fit... so wing ..sure try it. Maybe backline... he'd be great forward but can he stay fit there? Others rate Cunico more than me atm.
Fogarty had a good beginning, great tackler + then disappeared through injury, just couldn't get back. I'd love to see him in the Midfield too.

Geelong has Babijczuk + Trimboli who have seven players undergoing specific running training to make their running more efficient.

Down at K Park posted this article in the Pre-Season 2019 thread.

Baba Trimboli worked to correct Shaun Higgins' running, to prevent injury.

I'd have thought that Cockatoo was ideal for the specific running training programme with them, to correct his running to prevent injury. So it makes me wonder if he is still injured, or is still battling niggles? Of the injured players, Cockatoo offers the team the most potential.

Its been documented that NC had issues over the pS and is now on building a PS base.

Yes, I've read about his tonsillitis etc. Still, why not use the knowledge/experience of Baba Trimboli to help him?

I agree wait and see... id have thought as a mature he would be ready to play.
Why? A few extra years on your birth certificate doesn't necessarily mean that you'll be physically mature enough to mix it with the big boys. That's too simplistic Turbo.

I reckon Cunico went past Cam Guthrie last year, maybe not in the eyes of the selectors or Chris Scott, but the numbers back up what I thought, and the 6 6 6 set up at center bounces will mean more one on one contests and the need to pick players who are strong over the ball and can win or break even in those one on ones,I don't trust Cam in those situations he has a tendency to panic or put in some short steps on occasions,is Cunico the answer I don't know but on last seasons form I see him as the better option of the two.
Isn't Cam one of those that received specialist sprint coaching over the off-season? I would assume that if they are investing in developing him, then they would expect him to perform as best 22.

The pictures recently posted with him drilling with Ottens ..he doesnt look undersized. The only doubts id have is the speed and distances expected at the afl level... at 25 id hop he really has his frame to compete.. sure he can add to it being a full time footballer

5 to 10kgs light for his height in today's footy imo, will put that on in no time I hope.

Yes he was I read that a week or so ago,I'm not sure running is his problem though to be honest.

Well, we've all noticed that as he gets closer to the ball, his steps become shallower... :D Maybe the running training will help him actually get to that ball...

You'd think they'd invest in developing every player.

Finding it interesting that Narkle was singled out by Duncan as that explosive midfielder that can get the pill first... I mean he has looked good, and his WA U18 highlights looked good, but really is he that good to step into our midfield on a regular basis? I would've thought Parfitt and Kelly were ahead of him for centre bounce work? Perhaps even Guthrie, Menegola, Dahlhaus and even Duncan were ahead...

Reckon we play 2 Rucks or just one with Ratougolea? Seems weird to have 4 genuine Ruckman on the list if we plan to continue with the Sole Ruckman.

This is what Kane Cornes said on his show yesterday morning, paraphrasing of course. See how he tries to twist it that it's a dilemma ?View attachment 616675

He thinks it’s a dilemma. If it isn’t great. It’s not guaranteed that he’ll be better value up forward.

Don’t mind Cornes, he makes some good points.
