I saw that, why do politicians still go with the scripted answers instead of just being authentic? Both sides of politics have been guilty of this but the Liberals more so in recent times.

My theory is they're so terrified of uttering a phrase that contains some element of truth that can be turned into a soundbite or printed headline.
Example if any of them had said (after being the asked the question 54 different ways) "of course we regret not moving earlier on a RC into bank"s, that is the only phrase that would have been quoted everywhere for eternity.
The media has some complicity in their desperate hunt for sensationalist quotes but its resulted in a situation now where no one goes off message even for a second.

My god I just watched the Christopher Pyne interview on Insiders from last Sunday.

What an utter insult to the viewer's intelligence.

If he seriously thinks that sort of performance is going to win another term in office for this diabolical government then they're in for an even bigger kicking than I hoped.

get to where I need to go I have to get 'pretty with Gaven'. and that hasn't been working for a while..

So I will travel to other parts and Alastair will give me a thumbs up and he knows some people who will gather round...

And there you have it .. it is going above and beyond the pleasure zone.. but I am willing to embellish myself with stars and moons..

this will create a more than entertaining start up... Giddy up...

I don't believe it is. I just believe they're paralysed by the fear of it.
Personally I believe any politician that was prepared to say what they think and give actual honest answers would do very well but they're not allowed to exist any more.

When it comes to what's happening on Manus Island or Nauru nobody cares - rightly or wrongly, the voting public doesn't really give a shit. If they did, common sense legislation such as allowing dying asylum seekers to access appropriate medical care on the mainland would have been passed years ago.

Josh Frydenberg just managed to include the economy scare campaign line with the border security scare campaign line, and I think a part of me actually just died inside listening to it.
