Nagelsmann has a hell of a lot higher ceiling than Unai Emery, he was another I was going to mention but didn't due to his pre contract agreement with Leipzig.

Nagelsmann would have been perfect but as you said he was already linked with Leipzig. There wasn’t much out there last year.

My original point was that Emery seems to be a “best of the rest” type appointment. We missed the boat a few seasons earlier on more high caliber options who were up for grabs at the time.

I don’t think he was suggesting Emery is anywhere near as good as them. I believe the point was that even world class managers need a period of adapting to the premier league.

But even with all their accolades they struggled in their first season in the Premier League and then had to make adjustments to their game plans and personnel in their 2nd seasons and moving forward.

Pep had the backing to be able to do it within a season, whilst Klopp slowly built towards it. Now the same could be said that Emery needs time to get his own guys in but thats just a load of shit. For starters both Klopp and Pep are far more proven and are worthy of investment and the time it takes. But most importantly Emery has demonstrated what he is working towards in order to justify spending more time on him, this is the biggest difference. It was clear from the get go for Klopp and Pep what they wanted their teams to do but Emery with this Arsenal squad is a complete mess.

Sarri is working with a lot less talent than what Emery is. Outside of Hazard there is next to zero attacking threat in that Chelsea side.

You're right. I guess what I was implying is that with the right offer Jardim would have most likely been available but that wasn't the question you asked.

As for Allegri I don't think he was ever seriously considering Arsenal, rather using us to get a better contract from Juve. Even then Im sure he is the best option for us. Would depend on how much he would be allowed to spend on improving the defence.

Yes my question was a bit vague. I meant of the available managers, who was the best option.

Unfortunately though, Arsenal’s recent struggles has opened up a gap in status versus the other major European teams. As good as Allegri is, we are a step down from Juve and would take a tonne of money (which in fairness, we have) to acquire someone of that ilk.

Point I’m getting at is it appears it was either Emery or Arteta. Those were the only viable options at the time, each with their pros and cons. I guess the club leaned towards experience, and here we are.

Im not really complaining about our results under Emery, although of late they definitely have been awful. Im more concerned about the performances and direction the club is heading under Emery, the football is dire, his treatment of players is very questionable and he isn't giving our youth players a chance and instead is getting in guys he has previously worked with who aren't very good (Suarez). I don't stay up to 4 o'clock on a Sunday morning to watch us get outplayed by Huddersfield of all teams and whilst we won that game I certainly wish I had made the decision to go to bed. And yes I can handle winning ugly but thats what we've been winning pretty much all season.

Under Arteta I would expect the football to be a lot more appealing, youth players to be given more chances and the team to have developed an identity which they could build upon in the coming season. Those things may not have happened and in that case then yeah I would probably be gunning for his head, but I feel a lot more confident that he could achieve those 'benchmarks' then Emery has/can. This season by Emery feels like a smash together in the hope of being able to quickly get back into the champions league but not taking the required steps backs to take us forward. Which this may be all the club wanted from Emery in which case those in charge need to be sacked but based on the lies Emery seemingly fed them during his interview I doubt that this is the case.

He is also meant to be the driving force behind the Seri to Barca rumours a couple of years a go.

Emery would not be able to treat Ozil like he is without backing from higher up.

Attacking talent perhaps, but the rest of the Chelsea side is stronger than ours IMO. Kante is the best DM in the world and if allowed by his manager would boss the midfield, when he isn't marked out of the game, Jorginho makes that midfield tick as well. Azpilecueta, Christensen and hell even Rudigar are far superior to anything we can slot into our defensive line. Kepa is probably on par with Leno from what I have seen, haven't seen anything out Kepa for me to say he is the next big GK.

Overall, on paper I would say Chelsea are a stronger team.

Yeah I have got also got some big concerns over Sanllehi. Very dodgy character, which in someways we have been lacking given we have missed out of some hugely talented players because we weren't prepared to work with their agents (Mendez/Raiola). Problem being we don't have resources to buy their players once they have made a name for themselves which kind of defeats the purpose of having someone Sanllehi. The only right time for dealing with them is before they break out and we develop them, problem being their agents will soon sell them to a PSG, Barca and Real.

Thats irrelevant though. Sarri's whole system relies on his attack. His team can totally control the ball and create very few good chances as there are lack of creators and finishers. Give him our attack with our defence and he would have more points than what he does with his current side. For the way he wants his team to play, he doesn't have anywhere near enough talent.

Funny how you mention that part of Jardim, but not the part where he won the French league over Emery with about 1/5th of the budget, Unai Emery the only manager to fail to win the French league every season at PSG since they've been bankrolled.
