So not only did Joe Hockey use his position to push HelloWorld to line his pocket and the Liberal parties treasury budget according to Paul Bongiorno at least 4 more Liberal MPs didn’t declare freebies they received.
Leaners and Lifters was probably correct....its just that Hockey and his rat-pack are the Leaners

I wonder which mate is being considered for this contract?

Labor has threatened to withdraw from a $1bn contract if the Coalition pushes ahead with a controversial plan to privatise the visa processing system before the election.

The opposition has consistently opposed the plan, citing the threat to national security, but the shadow finance minister, Jim Chalmers, and immigration spokesman, Shayne Neumann, have upped the ante by warning, if elected, Labor will examine “all responsible options” if contracts are signed.

The comments are designed to put potential bidders for the $1bn new visa processing system on notice, as well as warn the public service that Labor intends to unwind any deal, in the same way it has signalled it would force the Great Barrier Reef Foundation to return a $443m grant if elected.

The decision to outsource visa processing has sparked alarm from the Community and Public Sector Union and the former immigration department deputy secretary Abul Rizvi, who has warned it will lead to increased automation and “premium” services that could undermine the integrity of the system.

In October Rizvi told Guardian Australia the potential for a private provider to create a fast lane for processing had “frightening” long-term implications, providing an incentive to lower the bar for subjective criteria.

Neumann wrote to the home affairs department noting that phase one of the tender is due to close on Wednesday, with successful tenderers finalised by October, after the election.

On Tuesday Chalmers told Labor caucus the “massive outsourcing of government responsibility” should be opposed, including by warning the public service to write provisions into the contract allowing Labor to junk the policy in government.

Chalmers told Guardian Australia it would “be dodgy in the extreme if the Liberals fast-tracked the process and signed contracts before the election”.

“If contracts are signed, and if we win the election, we are giving notice that we will examine all responsible options then with an eye to keeping this service in public hands,” he said.

Are they going to privatise parliament next?

Oh, they already have :$

The Coalition need to learn that when they enter government that they are to take care of government assets and maintain them in the best interests of the country. They aren't their own private possesions that they can sell off to their mates so that they can turn a buck. They desperately need to understand this.

Money is their true love though

Will never happen

This is ******* abysmal

Whinge whinge whinge boats whinge whinge whinge national security

Oh you're paying to come into this country, yes by all means you can come in, no questions asked.

Seriously what a joke, should we just privatise things like the police service and the judicial system next? They're already outsourcing Centrelink for example.

Certain services should be ran by the government, this absolutely is one.

Privatise the profit, socialise the loss. It's the neoliberal mantra.

They are no different to a property developer getting onto council

Looking forward to it happening all again in 3 years time when the dumb as dogshit people in this country vote in Dutton as PM or whatever. Do what I started doing 4 years ago, whenever the libs are in power buy houses and sell them to their voters for 50% gains. Make lemonade out of lemons and all that shit.

There's a lot of stupid old people with money, well above their means as an individual. Not hard at all to be one step ahead of them and redistribute the wealth yourself. Buy in inner south east and eastern area's and you win. Buy in Cranbourne like everyone else and you're just ripping off some poor young person.

Unfortunately the guy they are keeping tuned is the not very bright guy, who still physically buys the paper for the footy and the guy who still listens to talk back radio in his car or on the work site, with topics driven by those papers headlines or in this case lack of them.
He is a dinosaur though and he will be extinct in a decade or less

He's right. The rort is both boring and technical, but he's explained it in a way that most people can understand.

I wonder if it is possible that;

1/ after negative gearing the shit out of the first half of your working life + various other tax minimisation tricks (own business, trusts, etc. etc),
2/ putting the second half of your working life into super with all the tax benefits it offers - lets not forget only a few years ago people were putting their entire salaries into super (not sure if this still happens)
3/ retiring early and claiming lord knows how many years of tax imputation credits

that you actually end up paying net zero tax for your whole life at the end of it all. And then bitch that there are no services.

They would be absolutely nuts to go ahead with that, after claiming to be the party that is stronger on national security.

Like a child who has their favourite toy taken away from them

But at the end of the day, I think we've came full circle really
