Tom Brady has set another NFL record: Most expensive football card.
A card featuring Brady as a rookie sold for $400,100, the highest price ever for a football card, according to ESPN.
The card was part of the 2000 Playoff Contenders Championship Ticket collection, which produced only 100 such cards. The individual card that was sold in this auction is in mint condition, considered the highest quality of those 100 cards.
“This auction event featured the finest football card we’ve brokered in our 20-year history and achieved the highest-ever hammer price for a football card,” said Brett Huigens, CEO of the auction house that handled the sale. “We were honored to present this asset to the public and are delighted for the new owner.”
The football card market has never been as robust as the baseball card market; several baseball cards have fetched more than $500,000 at auction, including the famous T206 Honus Wagner card that sold for $3.12 million in October of 2016.

Looked like he was cooked two seasons ago, not sure why he or the team would think it’ll be any better.

Huge benefit to all us viewers though.

I think a tweet I read pretty much nailed it - he'll have limited snaps whilst preparing for the transition to coaching the season after. I can respect that he has realised he sucked major dog balls in the commentary box & that his future in football lies elsewhere.

NFL suspended free agent DL David Irving indefinitely for repeated violations of the league's substance abuse policy.
It's Irving's third suspension in as many years. Headed for free agency, Irving's latest ban will undoubtedly end his tenure with Dallas. The hulking 6'7" lineman has recorded eight sacks in his last 10 NFL appearances, though continued off-field discretions have kept him from reaching his full potential. A repeated violator of the league's substance abuse policy, the 25-year-old could be facing a long road to reinstatement. It may be a while before he resurfaces.

NESN's Doug Kyed reports Patriots LB Dont'a Hightower will not accept a pay cut.
Hightower is due a gaudy $11 million salary in 2019 and won't be amenable to taking a pay cut. That could complicate the Patriots' efforts to retain Trent Brown, Trey Flowers and Stephen Gostkowski, who are all headed for free agency. While $11 million is a steep price to pay, especially for a linebacker, Hightower remains an important locker room presence and came up huge in last year's Super Bowl win over the Rams.

They just had problems with the fallout from Swearinger. No way they get another malcontent in

*noting Swearinger had valid criticisms - more the Redskins didnt like it

Dan Snyder likes throwing money at front page players.

Gruden putting a package together for Antonio Brown

The Steelers are laughing all the way to the bank with this, like they laughed giving him Bryant for a 3rd, and then grabbing Switzer after they traded for him too.
