“It’s football you get hurt. It’s a 100% injury rate. I’m fair and honest, you can care about winning along with your check. Guys wouldn’t care about money if contracts were fully guaranteed. AB was already paid he just wasn’t happy in Pittsburgh it’s simple,” Allen wrote. “What does a contract mean when you can get cut after getting hurt while laying your body on the line for your team or cut just because they feel like you aren’t worth what the contract says.”
I do agree getting cut after getting injured is poor form but I see the other side that a player wont play if they have a hangnail ' its an injury man, cant play but pay me''

some comments from around the traps....

-------------

mayock is clearly taking direction from gruden.
do you think mayock (if he wanted to rebuild a roster in his image) would spend so much money on bell and brown? that's typical gruden thinking.

========

re: reloading....Jacksonville went back to picking top 5 the year after, btw

========

Chucky has to win now. And I don’t think he can. If we sign Bell we need to win yesterday. A lot of excitement yesterday and some good moves. But Rotoworld is right, and I hate rotoworld. Chucky can’t seem to figure out if he’s rebuilding or reloading. Here’s a clue, we went from 12-4 to 6-10 to 4-12. We r rebuilding. Brown could be in for a long two or three years. If we sign Bell we r hamstrung.

I hate Gruden, yes; but that's beside the point. All bias aside, I'm just looking at it objectively. Asking, what are we looking at exactly here.

It's obvious that Gruden wears the pants, directing Mayock. This whole Bell/Brown push is a Gruden move/idealogy. He's done it many times before, and he clearly wants to make a splash this year after all the criticism last year about Cooper and Mack, questioning his acumen. He's pouring cash into star vets on offense (his side of the ball). If Mayock were a true GM he'd be focused on building thru the draft, being frugal, and could even well have a particular taste for D not O, or at least a decent balance. Gruden wants to win now to prove the naysayers wrong, and that's how he operates anyway -- reloading, bad at rebuilding and drafting. And that's clear x2 how he continues to acquire 30 yo's, players who understand complex x's and o's, little patience for truly rebuilding and developing youth. Because....he wants to win now.

not saying it's wrong or right. but making you realize it's gruden's show, not mayocks. that's what's happening. it's not a true rebuild thru a true GM. It's chucky doing what he does but having a right-hand man he likes/trusts to do the stuff he wants him to do.

gruden is gonna put the raiders in cap hell in a couple of years, with his fixation to win now. I get his mojo. but he's supposedly here for 10 years and that suggests a proper rebuild. instead, he's just reloading year after year. last year he REALLY TRIED to win now, but was miserable. he's at it again this year. mayock is just helping. it's not mayock's vision/etc like Reggie had the power before.

i can agree that there's a Vegas Star motivation involved here too. That is probably necessary, but in moderation. A single star rookie QB can do that. But dumping so much into older star vets is over the top, can lead to cap hell and a full rebuild in the early Vegas years.

Now that the irrational exuberance has waned a bit, some of the risk associated with the AB deal should be more apparent to many.

AB will be 31 at the start of the 2019 NFL season. Jordy’s drop off started at 32. Same with Wes Welker and Ed Mcaffrey. We got Crabtree at 28 years old and his career may be over at 31. Sterling Sharpe was forced to retire at 29. Anyone that follows the NFL knows that virtually every NFL player over 30 is in decline. The only question is how quickly will it occur.

The 2018 Raiders are not remotely close to the teams AB is used to being a part of since 2010 when he was drafted. His Steeler teams were consistent playoff contenders every year. The strength of the team was a huge part of AB’s production in Pitt. Joining a weak team and building chemistry with a new QB is not conducive to maintaining high production.

Finally, we have done this before. Almost the EXACT same thing. Moss was 28 at the time this happened.

The “Raider/Moss Marriage” lasted two years.

“The Minnesota Vikings have had enough of Randy Moss and have tentatively agreed to trade the highly productive but highly controversial wide receiver to the Oakland Raiders next week. The deal would send linebacker Napoleon Harris and two draft picks, including the seventh overall choice in this year's draft, from the Raiders to the Vikings for the 28-year-old Moss, a five-time Pro Bowl selection. The NFL's trading and free agency period begins next Wednesday, and the trade cannot be officially completed before then.

"You never say it's done until everyone signs off on it and it gets announced with the guy holding up a jersey," the source said. "But everything is in place."

Cant help but think Mayock is sitting, crest fallen, in his office thinking ....... WTF.......... just happened.

The lustre of being lured into centre stage .............. just had a reality check ......... an oh shit moment.... for Mike.

Probably calling his agent as you read this post and asking what are his "get out clauses" ............ and if he isn't he sure as hell should be.

Just hope his agent has a reassuring answer. :praying:

https://www.bleedinggreennation.com...-philadelphia-quarterback-nfl-news-million-qb

The Jacksonville Jaguars are signing free agent quarterback Nick Foles, according to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport. The contract is said to be worth $88 million over four years with just over $50 million guaranteed. The max value is reportedly worth $102 million!

Considering the money some of the spuds around the league are getting, it's good to see BDN getting his just deserved payday.

Dissing DJ I get but JP?? He correctly points out eagles need to address linebacker & running back but let's give them a little time. That said, never change EDP, never change.

Yeah the JP hate seems fairly harsh.

A11dAtP0w3R looks like i did wisely pick my ravens jersey ;)

The Athletic's Connor Hughes reports free agent C.J. Mosley wants to re-sign with the Ravens and is even willing to take a discount.
Hughes covers the Jets, who have been strongly connected to the top free agent' backer. Hughes reports Gang Green would have to "create a gap between two numbers he can't turn down" to lure Mosley away from Baltimore. The saga should be resolved some time on Tuesday.

Casserly rips Josh Rosen’s work ethic, which some in Arizona refute

NFL Network’s Charley Casserly is having an odd month assessing the Cardinals’ quarterback situation.
Fresh off his claim that potential first overall pick Kyler Murray was a disaster in Combine interviews, which was followed days later with over-the-top praise for Murray’s game tape, Casserly is now taking aim at the quarterback Murray may replace in Arizona, Josh Rosen.
Casserly said on NFL Network that he has heard Rosen’s work habits were awful during his rookie year with the Cardinals, and Casserly indicated that Rosen is going to be traded as a result.
“Doesn’t work hard enough. Doesn’t study enough. Doesn’t connect with teammates. Goes off the game plan,” Casserly said. “Josh Rosen, when you go to your new team, you find out what time the janitor comes in. Then you come in and open the place up.”
But that message was refuted by people closer to the situation. Longtime Arizona Republic journalist Kent Somers tweetedthat people who have worked and studied with Rosen say his work and study habits were not a problem. Larry Fitzgerald said just days before Casserly’s comments that Rosen is a great teammate.
Rosen may be gone soon, but if so, all indications are that it’s because the Cardinals think Murray has more potential on the field. Not because of anything Casserly is talking about off the field
