I'm absolutely sick of this homesick BULLSHIT.

It doesn't happen in ANY other sport around the world. NBA players jump from state to state almost every year. Players rarely ever request trades to their homes, they play where they are picked or where the money is at.

Harden up or GET OUT OF THE AFL.

Apples and oranges. NBA players grow up in a culture where you move out of home and go to college and see your folks a couple of times a year. In Australia most people still live at home and go to uni, moving out of state is an anomaly. They are also paid millions of dollars and are constantly on planes and in hotels - rarely at 'home' in the city they play for. The AFL is a smalltime, insular competition that masquerades as bigger and more important than it really is.

It isn't Jordan Clark.

He's from Albany and was a pretty good and very, uh, determined footballer even when he was a teenager. He knew he'd probably move interstate for footy.

So much so that he's been in Perth for years, boarding at Hale or something, so he could play more footy for Claremont and be a better chance at selection.

Not many country lads who go to the city on scholarships end up citing homesickness. They've lived away from their parents and dealt with it by the time they're going off to Victoria.

It's usually Vic Metro pussies who want to go back to Melbourne to root all the chicks they didn't get a chance to in year 12 and big note themselves around their extended friendship group.

So true. To me, homesickness just screams "I'm a privileged city kid whose parents failed to cut the cord".

Some of these kids need to grow the **** up or don't sign up for a national competition

I think its Jye Caldwell - he's home sick and wants to return to home to Carlton.
Well he can damn well wait two years like every other GWS player has to before they get to play for Carlton.

There should be some sort of penalty. i.e. If you don't want to stay, you can leave but you go back to the VFL, SANFL, etc. At the end of the year you go back into the draft. Only team that can't take you is the one you left.

Then we'll see the ones that are really homesick.

Similar happened with McCarthy. Club has a choice on whether they want to entertain a trade or hold the player to their contract

Not all Vic players can be as hard and tough as WA players, especially the really tough guys like Hogan. Those types would never do this type of crap

And I had no issue with either party. He clearly wanted to go and to site out, it must have been pretty genuine. That being said, why sign a 3 year extension 6 months before? moron.

Couldn't agree more.

If they can't hack playing in the AFL and want to go home - Go play state league you soft ####.

Hogan's dad died of cancer and stayed? He got testicular cancer and stayed? And was as happy to stay as he was to come home... how the **** is that weak or soft?

Especially since, you know. Jake Lever. Steven May.
