Thats a huge advantage the Mercs have got. Doesnt bode well for the racing this year.

A big advantage means MB don't have to go all stupid with team orders. Therefore I'd hold off congratulating Hamilton on winning the title.

Holds the poles record, and seems to be able to pull it out of the bag like few others in Q3.
(Hard to judge everyone on qualifying though given how the format has changed over time)

Senna could produce insane laps (Monaco 88, over a second faster than Prost in the same car). Hamilton is consistent in Qualifying and seems to enjoy it.

There's really jack shit difference between them. Hakkinen's in there as well. It depends on how their career goes. Qualifying and racing is different from the 80s to 90s to 00s and 10s.

Interesting table:

So Renault actually improved almost a full second from last year, which is better than Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull. Trouble is the other midfield teams made even bigger improvements and relegated Renault down the pecking order.

Going to be an interesting midfield battle this season.

The gap from 7th to 14th is pretty tight. You'd expect Gasly to fly through the field today but the interesting thing will be how he deals with the expectation.

He SHOULD finish top 6 still, but has made the odd mistake.

That will largely depend on how effective the rule changes have been in allowing closer following.

Yesterday on the telecast they were talking about the new aero rules, and saying that they were brought in to make sure it didn't get harder to follow. Apparently the way that aero designs were going, it was going to become harder each year to follow cars.

So these rules at the very minimum will make it no harder than it was last year, but it remains to be seen if there is an improvement.
