I think he'll struggle.
The lad is still work in progress.
If they expect someone like Lynch to take a little while to adapt then a rookie in Balta is a way off.
Good experience for the lad nonetheless.

They have 2 blokes that can worry us. One of course is Cripps who will flourish under the new rules. He's a contested beast. The second is Curnow - Like DeGoey I worry if we put Rance on him, he will murder us early. I'd honestly go Grimes to Curnow and Astbury to McKay.

I’m really expecting us to be be quite physicsl tonight. Fair few young bodies in the Carlton team expected to perform senior roles and I don’t think that’ll be lost on a lot of our seasoned, hardened players.

Lynch isn’t a role player, but we are just easing him into the season and his position at the club.

It’s exactly why he chose us, he knew the big 4 would take the focus and we just won a premiership so he wouldn’t be a messiah figure.

At the pies he was gonna be a messiah. The hawks are past it and doing a Geelong and hanging on to their past glory.

Although different types of players.Watch the difference pressure on wise between Lynch & Dylan Sheil.

I read some of the stuff over there. It's like they've forgotten they were a wooden spoon rabble last year and are playing a side coming off a premiership and prelim. They are deluded. I just hope our boys take them seriously and don't let em get out to a good start because if they get a sniff they'll play their grand final.

Grimes is hugely underrated, I reckon he could do a job on literally any forward in the comp. I like Rance the most when he's playing free and making aggressive intercepts. Maybe Graham to Cripps, Grimes to Curnow, Leave Rance with a lesser assignment so he can play more free in our backline. Could be wrong.

Balta has had an extra year training and gelling with the team; I think he will come out all guns blazing or whatever the saying is

Same with lynch, he’s ready, he can dominate. I’m not lowering expectations for either of these players, no excuses if they’re on the ground
