Short needs to pull his finger out to what happen to his kicking being a weapon to many turnovers .Seen the same lazy defence wise mistakes last night to.
Not a defender. One trick pony.Put him on the wing and use his only weapon.

There’s some great intercept markers in the game but the reason Rance is one of the best ever is because nobody can play like he does and it’d be a mistake to try look for someone to.
We’ve got the weapons now to kick some really big scores.
Were probably going to need to.

Garth and Miller as our only key defensive options is laughable tbh

I know balta can play back but he looks good as a 2nd ruck and 3rd forward option

A certain side made the GF last year with an even laughable backline(KP).
If they can do it.Cant see any reason we can't.

Garthwaite is the long term solution for Rance, there's no doubt in my mind.

But I think we should try Broad in a more defensive role and bring in Ellis or Markov as an extra runner for the next couple weeks. With Garth underdone there's no better time to at least try that structure and keep it in the back pocket for certain opponents later in the season.
Agree.We need abit of speed.
In:Markov
Out:Rance

Why are ACL’s so weak yet take so long to heal?
The ACL ligament is very robust, but its the sheering force of movement, at speed, which creates tears. Its only about 20mm long, but when repaired holes need to be drill through the femur and tibia, then the graft ( the replacement ligament) is attached via long grub screws to this to lock them down. The time taken is for this action to essentially be stuck properly to the bones is the long recovery timeframe.

My point is that midfield depth wasn’t an issue in 2017, so why is it now, when you could argue we have strengthened it?

Geelong kicked three late goals against us and the scoreline flattered them. Against the Bulldogs and Essendon we had top spot sewn up and had absolutely nothing to play for and IIRC Essendon could’ve made finals had they beaten us. In that game we were missing Prestia, Lambert, Cotchin, Butler and Astbury and we still won. Essendon kicked the last four goals of the match after we had well and truly put the cue in the rack. Surely our performance against Hawthorn in the final suggests we were going half arsed in those final fixtures given that we turned it on that game and blitzed them.

Do you honestly think Collingwood are a 40 point better side than us? We beat them twice last year and had the more dominant home and away season. They were white hot that night and we were clearly carrying players that weren’t fit. Lambert had surgery three weeks prior, Dion’s hamstring was playing up, Dusty had a corked thigh, Astbury was hospitalised because of gastro, Graham’s shoulder was crook, Cotchin had hamstring soreness, etc.
And Rioli was coming of a limited preseason and injury...Butler had a sore ankle...Dion had a crook rib...Broad was coming back from a broken cheekbone..

Remind me again you ****s - WHY THE **** ARE WE AFRAID OF COLLINGWOOD NEXT WEEK? Bring em on.

The thing that is in the forefront of my mind is how well Collingwood played in all 3 games against us last year.
They would look shit against teams and then play out of their skins, twice it brought the absolute best out of us and we looked as good as we ever have but there was a nagging feeling that they were getting closer and more threatening which is why the prelim wasn’t really a shock.
Hopefully it brings the best out of us like those first two meetings last season.

To keep some mobility in defence I wonder if Rance could be replaced with Markov while Garthwaite builds fitness another week. The Pies dont play tall, its only Cox. Astbury could go to him with Balta as backup if needed. Then Broad, Vlastuin, Grimes and Markov take their other small and mid sized forwards. Gives a bit more run against the Pies who are stacked with runners.

My bad 4tune8
I forgot Adams was injured.
The finger injury.
A huge loss, leading CPs.
I saw him play as a defensive mid across half back, a switcher.
He was impressive.
