Because everyone in Australia knows that Channel 9 owns Stan, which streams Marvel movies, and as such Channel 7 commentators saying the word "Marvel" is blatant and obvious promotion for a competitor.

Channel 7 chucking a tantrum because they spend their money of the rights to broadcast sport rather than a digital streaming service.

Channel 7 being unprofessional and dishonest....

Wow I never saw this coming.

Lol without mentioning the fact that Robbie and Wingard were targeted in a similar way for just about every game over a 5 year period?

Some of the treatment a young Justin Westhoff copped at the hands of Scarlett, Glass and even certain potatoes in the SANFL made what Gawn experienced - an established man-mountain - look like a playful noogie.

It would’ve been Graham’s catchphrase, ‘pressure builds diamonds’, back then.

It’s based on statistical metrics for each player over a certain length of time. Whether those statistics carry much relevance towards future performance is up for debate, but it is based on objective numbers.

The Tigers announced on Tuesday afternoon they had suspended the membership of the person who vilified Ryan on social media for two years, as well as revoking their member rights.

The AFL Integrity Unit’s investigation identified the Tigers member in question. That person will be required to take part in an Aboriginal cultural awareness and education program before their membership suspension is lifted in March 2021.

First time you've been unequivocally wrong. There are no personalities in the Crows coaching staff.

Brett Burton has a personality. 'Unjustifiably arrogant w***er' is a personality.

Managed to catch-up on some footy and watched parts of the GWS/Essendon game. What is with the Bombers? I struggled to remember a time where players looked like they couldn't be bothered running at full pace or cover 2-3 metres extra to apply some defensive pressure! I know the Bombers have a reputation as one-way runners, but that was shocking!

Have they been prepared poorly? Other issues?

they were told they'd win big if they lost

"So Brett, tell us about your career."
"I was pretty fit, took a couple of marks and was extremely unlucky not to have a Brownlow or two. I've already got my suit picked out for my Hall of Fame announcement."

Grave Danger Ishikawa and others if you didn't watch the 2nd episode of Nyoongar Footy Magic on Sunday night on NITV - yeah I forgot - it's available on SBS on Demand below.

Have to remember to watch NITV on Sunday at 7.30pm as its the Krakouer Brothers episode.

Couple of things from the program. First the accident with the tractor, I knew it was bad and it took several years to recover from, but the picture of a black bone with all the calf muscle and skin worn away was gruesome and after all these years tells me how tough it really was for him that i didnt understand at the time. The doctors wanted to cut his leg off.

The other was Ernie Dingo said he had won 23 individual awards. If it includes premiership medals than these are the 23 thanks to his wiki page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barry_Cable

  • Tassie Medal: 1966 (best player at a national championship)
  • 2x Simpson Medal: 1969, 1977 (best WA player in a state game Edit this is for the best player on ground in a state game in Perth so non WA players have won this between 1945 and 1994 then WA introduced the Graham Moss medal for best WA player in a state of origin game and Sandover was won by WA players in state league state games from 1995 onward )
  • -------------------------------------------------- 23
  • 2x All-Australian team: 1966, 1969

GremioPower he was the 2nd player I mentioned in that list of great WA Aboriginal players in that Gavin Wanganeen thread.

One of the things that amazed me about Cable was how long a kick he was for such a small player. Sure you admire the speed and the skills but a 168cm player who had no problems kicking the ball 50m and usually it was a great long drop kick and other times it was spear like 30m stab pass.

I saw this video a few years ago Barry showing how to kick a drop kick and he was about 70 and struck them beautifully. Plus his handball trick that the players of today aren't smart enough to try.

This was going on last year, too. My mail is there is one coach, in particular, causing significant problems but he is in Team Burton so untouchable.

He could play a bit Barry Cable.

He’s no Shaun Burgoyne though.

He was very lucky/fortunate to survive that farming accident a few years ago.
It was 1979.

I like how after he had his operations, after the doctors tried to cut his leg off but he said no way, he insisted he be allowed to go and coach the team on Saturday. So the doctor relented and sent him to the game with a nurse and he had to come straight back to the hospital after the game!

A couple of these in particular:

The second tweet where Merrett just watches Tomlinson gather and run off is incredible.

Ummm...that's worthy of an investigation into match-fixing!

Channel 9 owns Stan??

Hard to believe something so competent is owned by a local television network?

Thanks for this REH, another terrific program - I'll make sure I watch the one on the Krakouers. As well as the bike ride to the MCG Barry did numerous other charity bike rides in subsequent years - amazing stuff after such a serious leg injury. In the early 80s when punk bands used to try and outdo one another with their outrageous names there was one that called themselves Barry Cable's Leg :$

I mean, really, that's not that much sillier than Bickley being in there.
