Gresh, Billings and Sinclair all got a run through the middle on Sunday. Lonie also started on the wing a few times.
We are definitely running more players through there than last year.
We nearly ran the most through midfield last year. I remember someone posting that stat. It’s surprising but the thing is we know so much about our club but really bugger all about other clubs. Until the likes of dunstan and Ross learn to play elsewhere for periods we are a bit hamstrung

Richo's smirk after the siren was more of a "**** me, how the **** did we do that?"

It typified how I felt.

And that game just made me mad. I'm not happy we won, just relieved we didn't lose.

Now we go 1-8 before coming up against the blues - we need to improve a shitload before then.

Also if you think we will win more than six games this year, you have the rosiest coloured glasses ever.

Well I think 6 to 8 wins but I hope we are both wrong. It doesn’t help losing Carlisle or not having a fit hanners. We do lack class though.

I might have been a bit harsh but that's my knee jerk reaction to the performance over the weekend - he says two days later

I just had a look at the stats for this round and a few surprised me
-We were the top clearance team for the round with 45 clearances, even though we got smashed in the hitouts. Ruckman! who needs them ;)
-We got the ball I50 on 60 occasions which ranked us 3rd for the round (The Bulldogs and Fremantle got I50 68 times) Our I50 efficiency was ordinary because we only scored 20 times but at least we are getting the ball into scoring zone. Interestingly, Essendon had 3 fewer I50 entries than GWS and got absolutely hammered on the scoreboard (Lack of defensive structure and pressure??)
-We had 71 tackles which ranked us 2nd for the round
We have a lot to work on still but at least some of the indicators are trending in the right direction
And we kicked more goals than points!

I thought this showed in our player disposals as well. Nobody had 30 or more. Only two players with more than 23 disposals. But 8 players had 20 or more, and another 7 players had at least 17.

A nice even spread, which I think strengthens our ability to stay in matches. In the past you could shade Steven or Ross, and the whole team sputtered.

Also, did anyone else feel a nice sense of calm whenever Wilkie had the ball? He only had 11 possies but went at 100%. Looks like a nice tidy kick and makes good decisions.

Another viewpoint on this.

People feel a strong sense of ownership of the club, it's deep in their psychology, but there's exactly zero they can do about on field results. That's hard.

BF provides us a safe space to rant and rave and commiserate and support each other. This saves us all from pushing the negativity out in other ways.

The main problem then isn't the negativity, it's the way people respond to it. Whinging about others being negative is just crap. They're feelings, they're all valid, trying to police others' feelings is impossible (and the problem with the whole internet these days).

So the job of the mods shouldn't be policing negativity, it should be policing personal attacks. That should be clearer and easier.
I feel that this statement:
"BF provides us a safe space to rant and rave and commiserate and support each other. This saves us all from pushing the negativity out in other ways."

indicates that you don't value the other posters on this forum and you devalue the effect that constant negativity has on an environment. I don't mind a whinge now and then, but the constant knee jerking and deliberate pessimism does get to me. If it's by the same people and those people rarely have positive contribution then it's even more of a downer.

Like a work environment, if one of the workers is constantly negative, it transmits a similar energy throughout the office and 'infects' other personnel.

But hey it's either that or you neggies go postal or beat your kids then I guess we'll have to be your punching bags.

My insults come from a place of love and you know it.

Dissapointed that we didn't make George's top 50 TBH

We're far too naughty to be considered for a top anything type list. Rebels without a cause. 😉

Badge of honour, never conform. I never wanted to be in his stupid clique anyway. I'm a lone wolf, I don't even like being part of groups, anyone that joins the cool kids sucks balls.

Have you noticed the Extraordinary quality of those not included? I know which clique I'd rather be in. Fight the Man!

I speak to Saints fans outside the forum, so many are still angry about last year. One guy can't get over the president suggesting finals then ending up bottom 4. He's shitty because he's realised we are just starting the journey not about to arrive. I get freaked listening to that stuff and get angry at the club. I used to be a positive poster once, now I'm burnt out and always annoyed by the club making poor decision. I know no-one wants to hear it but it feels like a way to unload the burden, I think I actually hope other posters can convince me otherwise. I love reading Premo's posts, he just doesn't get pushed down, just jumps up and dusts himself off. I want to be like that but I can't do it.

Funny I actually think Premium is probably a great guy and clearly loves his club and very glad he is here, but I can't read his posts because they are just too positive for me, he would have found positives in our worst players.

Whereas you, despite your tendancy to melt and go OTT on the doomsaying at times, are one of my favourite posters because you are at least funny and you talk sense most of the time. Same goes for Trig now he quit his trolling.

I just like a bit of balance I suppose. Too much neg or pos and I need to recalibrate.

AFL Fantasy points are a flawed way of measuring overall performance in a game.

Our best were.
Steele DT 111 SC 115 .
Bruce DT 79 SC 95
McKenzie DT 58 SC 94
Steven DT 90 SC 92
Newnes DT 90. SC 92
Billings DT 84 SC 88
Parker DT 83 SC 87
Dunstan DT 85 SC 86
Ross DT 82 SC 86
Gresham DT65 SC 86
Lonie DT 92 SC 85

Our worst:
Kent , Long , Savage , Pierce , Geary

The Dream Team ladder is interesting.

Port on top.
Adelaide second despite losing to 7th placed Hawks
Giants 3rd ( Bombers second bottom ).
Carlton 4th despite losing to 14th placed Hawks.
Fremantle 5th
StKilda 6th.

Seems you can avoid a lot of hard work if you can move the ball in a precise way. But if you try to avoid the work and are not precise you end up like the Bummers, or the Eagles.
Isn't Supercoach a better metric than dreamteam? If I recall correctly SC takes in things like efficency stats where as DT doesn't

Supercoach is better, but it still is an inadequate measure of performance. It favours midfielders and forwards and relies on stats which don't tell the whole story.

It also favours half-backs who can rack up very high scores. Certainly doesn't favour a stopping backman in a negating role.

Is that why Browns scores have been so bad all the time ? I thought it was just because he didn't want to get his boots dirty by kicking , lol.

Ive noticed who George included , it was lucky I slipped him $50 to get my name there . However I will always fight those who are considered less than others but only if they slip me some money first lol .

Yes some positive posts about other posters! I like it!
Premium keep up the good work, we will all turn the tide to positivity eventually, so hang in there with us!

watchin all the kids again this week, although some have said he was a little naughty, Long's aggression paired with Madman Parker's was awesome and exactly what we need a bit of in our forward line I reckon. Also loved how quick Billings and Long were over to back Madman when he got in that little scuffle in the fwd pocket! I mean Billings did that! WOWSER!
Let's see a little more of that this week again!

I did the list of Saints in the order of SC.
Didn''t have one for the teams handy.
Interesting to see McKenzie had only 58 Dreamteam, but 94 Supercoach points.

George....a big thanks for the "all the goals" clip.

AWESOME.

You should get a gig at the "Death Star"......their highlights package never shows all the goals by either side.....it's extremely annoying !!!!!!
