Mods, is there going to be that goalkicking comp to vote on this year whereby you’re eliminated if the player you vote on doesn’t kick a goal as has been conducted the last few years?

Oh yeah!! That's a good question Dylan, I had completely forgotten that comp...although it's another thing in my life that I lose at, it was still enjoyable :P

Does it need to be on the mods to organise that kind of thing?

Maybe not, but Fatcat08 or Elixuh had organsied it previous years and was simply asking the question...perhaps there is no such interest in it anymore.

I will defer to what fat cat wants to do as he has run it in the past, but because no prizes or anything of that nature is involved, more than happy for any poster to run comps if they wish.

Mods can help with stocking threads etc if need be.

Yeah i sort of forgot about it in the lead up to round one with a few family issues but I'll have it up and running for round two. Any naming suggestions for this years one will be welcome

Cheers.

The Trent Bartlett or Dion Scott Cup in honour of some inaugural Lions.

If the Bigfooty quiz was run this year I completely missed it (as opposed to just missing the deadline like the last few years)

Nope, it was a casualty of my holiday in the three weeks lead up to the season.

I have a mate who has been to the live footy once before and really enjoyed it.

He is interested in catching a game (or two) this year but has a weird kind of schedule ... I sent him the fixture for the Gabba this year and asked him to let me know which dates were already taken at his end...

He replied "Is there a game/s that you’d suggest would be good to see; ie; good opposition?"

I asked if they were all free date wise vs his pre-existing commitments and he replied with "What I thought was if you nominate the top 3 then I can probably adjust my schedule around at least one of them"

So fellow Lions ... what do you think would be the top three choices for someone to come and see us play this year at the Gabbatoir?

To save looking up the schedule here are the options ...

Well, it's possibly my Port bias - but Round 3 would be on the list, since we have a modern rivalry......the Pies and Hawks would be the other 2 I'd go in for.

Port
Pies
Hawks

Hawks: Beat Down the Good Guys.

We've got the second or third longest winning streak against the Hawks now, so I worry that they're due - not many teams beat them three times in a row. At the moment it's only Richmond (3 wins running). GWS hasn't lost to the Hawks in their last four games, but there's a draw in there (WWDW).

1- Collingwood.
2- Sydney.
3- Melbourne.

Mine would be similar, I'd go 1. Pies; 2. Melbourne and 3. Sydney - was very tempted to put Hawthorn in the top 3 but this might be close to the last time Buddy plays at the Gabba so I'd put Sydney in the top 3 even though they are maybe not as strong as in previous years.

More generally the list of home games indicates that we are playing a lot of the expected bottom sides once and away from home (e.g. St Kilda, Carlton) with the possible exception of Gold Coast (I think the dogs will be a bit better than bottom 4). That's not necessarily a good or bad thing, but it is interesting.
