Lonie has been a revelation, he's still a niggling little prick but he's added a hard edge to his game and won us some hard ball gets today at crucial moments.

A pity Billings can't follow his lead and get his hands dirty, he's still a soft seagull that prefers to wait for the easy outside ball.

Seriously! Billings playing the role asked of him to a tee.

Interesting stat - 4 defenders (Brown, McKenzie, Battle and Wilkie) had 30 disposals and 11 tackles between them - the attacking defenders (Geary, Savage and Webster) had 60 possessions and 1 tackle.

How f****** good was it when Parker SMASHED McGrath? The bloke didn’t move for about 3 minutes!!

Parker made a big impact in the last quarter when he got switched into the midfield, he's the sort of fast tough mid we need.

He's not just a one trick small forward pony.

Wilkie hardly ever makes a mistake and has composure like a veteran. He looks real good to me.

He's a solid defender but he's no Sam Fisher, he doesn't provide the rebound that turns defence into attack in the twinkling of an eye Roy and HG style.

People forget how good Fisher was, in that drawn 2010 GF he got overshadowed by Lenny and BJ's heroics but he was every bit as good as them.

Sam Fisher was a genuine A grader, Wilkie is a C+ grader at best so let's not get too carried away with him.

To me , he's not a good forward, and not a good ruck , and probably not a good defender, but a very good footballer.

Seriously though, what a weekend! Got 6/6 tips right so far. Melbourne got belted, we beat Essington, and I made $170 from $50 cause of the Saints! Hoping that Norf gets thrashed tomorrow too, then it’ll be bliss.

So ****ing proud of the lads. There’s still so much improvement left, but we now have the structures in place and team belief to churn out victories.

Marshall is a specimen, keep pumping games into him, has far more upside than Pierce. I froth at the potential of a Marshall/King ruck/forward partnership moving forwards.

Gresham demonstrated his star quality today, seriously sublime, especially with his minutes on ball.

We definitely didn’t get everything right, and goal kicking continues to frustrate, but there were a lot of positives. Parker is electric. Steele is a beast. Bruce’s contested mark was a highlight! Savage was quite good today. Sinclair a very good game, especially big in the last quarter. Billings played his role well. Lonie made some inspirational tackles and harassing. Definitely getting a second half of 2013 about this side, let the good times roll.

I’d probably just make the one change...
Clark has to come in, he needs AFL game time, and I reckon it’s going to be at the expense of Dunstan. To trust him with only 56% game time, he has to be on the outer.

It was a good win. If we had kicked straight we could have really put the foot down and dug Essendon's grave, scoreline flattered them. Best thing about the game was even when it was around 3 goals with 8 or so mins left I never felt like we were going to muff it up. Great composure which we have lacked recently.

Experience and a cool head. Joyce gave away 6 free kicks and turned the ball over a little last week, he is back up for brown.

Good performance today. Still lots of room for improvement but 2-0 makes glorious reading and there's lot to like from today's game not least the backbone when the Bombers came at us in the second half.

I was bemused by the Essendon pre-game cajoling of their fans to stand up 30 secs before the first bounce and wave their scarfs above their heads. That's the sort of fake support that fake clubs do. Real supporters don't need to be told to 'stand up and cheer' or 'make some noise" (so glad we dropped that little beauty after we scored a goal). A few more performances like today and if they continue with the choreographed scarf waving (which was spontaneous and wonderful when Sheedy did it against West Coast and then the fans took it up in future games) I doubt that anyone will do it. It's cringeworthy when the team is winning and downright embarrassing when they're not.

I get your point but last week the Saints were playing songs after goals that sounded as if the crowd was actually singing them. Saints are guilty of that kind of stuff, too. Initially I thought they may have left a microphone in that section of crowd that does sing songs for each player after they do something good. Turns out it was all prerecorded nonsense.
