Autopsy Hawks fall in a heap against the Dogs - Rd 2, 2019

Dude, my point stands that even if you magically take those 4 away (which honestly I don't) we gave away 5 goals within 15 minutes. Even if we had won we didn't deserve it, this gives the team a kick up the butt to do better. If we want to win flags you have to learn to stop momentum swings like that.

Do you understand how momentum works? Bulldogs were dead and buried until the umps decided to hand them the game.

Very disappointing today. Jaeger won’t want to watch the 4th qtr again I’m sure - but he should be made to in the review. Our composure was poor, and I’m not even going to start on the umpiring decisions in the last qtr.

I'm not an idiot, I'm saying 9 goals is more than a momentum issue. I think we should have won, I'm just not losing my shit like some of the other flogs here at the moment. Deadset.

Didn’t see the game but our mids aren’t getting their hands on the football enough, clearly. Maybe lucky Adelaide went 2 down on the bench last week. After Mitchell went down for the season I honestly didn’t know how wee would fare this season and could see us anywhere from Top 4 to bottom 4 as we have a good experienced core playing group along with a few veterans that are running out of legs and a bunch of young guys who need more experience and we need to find a few that will step up. Often though our core playing group drags us over the line to victory but also gets shut down and closed out of games almost as often. It will be an up and down season and who knows what will eventuate!

The thing is the umpires took away our chance to steady the game, it was blatantly ripped away and that’s what’s most disappointing. We handled them all day as a defence, for 90% of the game their forwards didn’t bother us then with 3 horrifically bad decisions that clearly impacted momentum we where dead and buried.

Umpiring gave them 4-5 easy goals, changed momentum, changed our game plan, changed our mentality. Simply put it AFFECTED US

As painful as that fade out was, I am still found a lot to like about the game....

1. I think Scrimshaw is a real talent and he is a baby.
2. Worpel is a baby also and is playing at the high level he set for himself late last season.
3. Cousins is another baby who looks like he is AFL standard.
4. Henderson has become a really good player.
5. Gunston played like a FF today which bodes well for the post-Roughy era.
6. Ceglar looked like a dominant ruckman in that third qtr and he the Cegs/Mcevoy combo looks super dangerous.
7. Scully was quiet but played the game out and will definitely improve.
8. Wingard is still to come into the team.
9. O'Meara looks like he is playing pain free and is set to become everything we expected from him back when he won the Rising Star.

We aren't in premiership contention in 2019 so the loss to me is kind of secondary to some of these bigger picture things. Whilst the frees were annoying, they happen sometimes and perhaps the bigger issue is inability to arrest the moment. Clarkson will be upset with that and rightly so. This will need to be addressed. Otherwise I don't think that I feel too much differently now reflecting on the game than had we actually won it. Lets hope Chad makes an appearance next week v North.

The Dogs were first to and harder at the ball for all but about 15 minutes of the first half. The effort from the defence to keep the half time margin to four points was immense. Not surprisingly the boys were completely out of gas in the last 20 minutes. We needed a bit of luck late in the game to hang on and obviously didn’t get it. Sicily cops a lot of crap for his lack of discipline at times ( often justifiably) but he was screwed over today. I can’t help but think that that free kick in front of goal is let go if it isn’t Sic. He appears a marked man and it may take a long time to get rid of that stigma.

Guys, the umps were bad but we gave up 9 goals in the end. Maybe I'm not taking it as hard because I feel like the loss will help us more that hurt us but our defence needs to be looked at. Sicily needs anger management, clearly.

Sicily needs a raise, not a course in anger management. Just about everything else I agree with

Sheils and Burgoyne were injured in the last. O'Meara/Worpel/Cousins had to go against the entire Bulldogs midfield who could roll players through to tire us out. It really showed in the last quarter. Worpel/Cousins are both inexperienced players. But man, you needed to watch the game to see how the momentum turned. Without the bullshit frees our tired midfield group could've dragged us over the line.

On a side note..... does that image display as a still image of a gif? I attached it as an image by copying the image url. Does anyone know why it doesn't display as an animated gif?

Edit: I also notice that the manual image resize feature thats been added doesn't seem to work. I resized the attached image to be ~6-7cms on the screen and yet it displays much larger than that.

Agree with everything except I was concerned by the extra strapping that turned up after halftime.

That and being 2 players down in rotations, plus the new rules, we didn't stand a chance.

In days gone by Rough or Gun would head back and just slow down the game but we weren't able to do that with 6-6-6. It was a perfect storm of shitness.
