Autopsy Hawks fall in a heap against the Dogs - Rd 2, 2019

Must happen to all clubs every week now. This is the precedent. Watershed moment in the game here. Will be sanitized from here on in.

Worst thing for the game this, at least the NBA come out and admit when mistakes have been made, I'd rather the AFL do the same rather than say it was the correct call and we'll turn the sport into netball.

Except next week when North niggle the Hawks players all game as only North can do.
After that it'll die a natural death as the AFL realize how ridiculous and unsustainable rule it is.

So the AFL department has ticked off the free kick call against Sicily. Claims it was a correct decision. Based on that fact, I'd love someone to go through the entire game footage, and show 50 other instances of where they have done the same to us and then ask the AFL to advise why they missed so many free kicks?

Please someone do that!

A Swings and roundabouts guys, you've had a lot of decisions go your way over the years.
**** off idiot... if you're going down the freekickhawthorn routine

#freekickhawthorn is just a pile of shit sprouted by halfwits...don't try to feed us that shit on our own board.

Thanks for the Worpel footage.
Ump said to clear out and Worpel did, albeit not the shortest route, but he wasn't deliberately dawdling. Ump hadn't started his approach. AFL need to clarify this rule, it doesn't specify exactly when the exclusion period starts, unlike the centre square rule which does specify that it starts when the ump begins his bounce approach.

As another poster said, totally against the spirit of the game, more so when the rule isn't worded precisely and he wasn't trying to get any sort of advantage like you might be by not giving the ball back quick enough.

Was probably silly enough to watch the replay late last night .
I actually think the last quarter was as good a case of a perfect storm as you get as far as sport goes .

- we are down to 2 on the bench missing 2 midfield runner options
- opposition have a hard running deep midfield to exploit it
- 6-6-6 meaning we can’t get players behind the ball to arrest momentum
- a few umpire ‘errors’ help opposition gain momentum and halt ours
- we make errors under fatigue ( see point 1 )

Umps didn’t lose us the game , we did throughout the match with some poor play and decisions.
They did help the dogs gain some momentum and opened the door a bit more then normally would happen but they were always going to close that gap with our lack of run options.

IMO that game is played in 2018 without 6-6-6 we hang on and win that

Move on to next week .....

I can't wait for Scott Thompson to give away a record 500 free kicks this weekend

Still haven't seen the Worpel footage if anyone has a link?

The entering the centre square rule says you can only have 4 players in there from the time the ump commences his approach to bounce until it hits the ground. The centre circle rule doesn't specify when the exclusion period starts, just that it applies until the ball hits the ground, but one would presume it also starts when the umpire begins his bouncing approach. Anyone know if he had begun his approach when Worpel got pinged?

It's so subjective. He seems to begin his approach(Although because it's bottom corner on fox footy broadcast cant really see anything) while worpel is running through the circle to his position. Earlier in the game there are multiple instances where the umpire uses his common sense and waits much longer periods of time before bouncing to allow players to correctly set up. Looks to me like he was feeling the pressure of the AFL's desire to keep the game moving quickly and free flowing, and late in the last quarter he was too focused on moving quickly rather than allowing the game to progress naturally(i.e. let players set up like every other single centre bounce in the entire game, some where players ran through the circle without being pinged.) Is what it is.

It was a game against Brisbane, where Dunstall took the players into the shade of the stand.
We then got run down in the last quarter.

He still takes stick for it.
That’s the record for a 3/4 time comeback. Didn’t we lead by 45 points at 3QT and lose?

Of course they did.

No one understands the rule, players, coaches or fans. Umps are just guessing at who deserves frees at best and deliberately ignoring the same offense at worst.

Why wouldn't the AFL tick it off?

I can't wait until next week when we get another 3 of those same shoves that are not paid and the AFL will come out and still tick them off as being the right decision. I love football and i love the AFL teams but the league is run by absolute morons.

This has been said already I think, but makes me wonder if 6-6-6 means we going to see a few massive blowouts when teams get injuries early and have rotations down for a large portion of the game. Could be an interesting year as teams learn more about how/when to exploit new rules.
