Shazam rated M in Australia apparently. Bizarre take.

I believe there are elements/scenes of horror to the film. Not surprising considering the directors background is horror, plus it's still DCEU which have never been PG demographic

Shazam is currently at 93% on RT and 75 on Metacritic. Strong numbers, particularly for the DCEU.

Still strange, given it's been specifically marketed as a family film. I'll still take my six-year-old, I reckon it might just be an overzealous rating here in Oz, it's PG everywhere else.

Why? From what we already know they've gone with a completely new origin name and it's set when Bruce Wayne is a kid, if this is to lead into a Batman movie than this Joker would be quite aged in comparison to when they do the new Batman, presuming that will be set in this universe and not the other DCU. It may be an origin movie of a Joker, but not necessarily of the Joker. The next Batman movie will like be based on a younger Batman, mid 20s so we can presume at least 20 years would have past.

Yes I’ve read these kinds of theories, and whilst there’s some merit to it I don’t believe it will play out that way. For me, it’s a one off film, outside of the DCEU.

I’m not sure there’s scope for a series of films to then introduce Batman (of course, that can easily change if it’s a success). Thomas Wayne is central to the story which is an interesting character take. Anyway, let’s see.

Phoenix rarely puts in a bad performance, magnificent actor. When I hear his cackle, I will well up with nerd tears.

It'll print it's own cash but they'll need to make sure the teaser and trailers are top notch.

He has been one of my fav actors since Return to Paradise. My dream casting for the joker since forever. Kinda bizarre that its actually happening.
The problem is that my expecations are so high that he cant not dissapoint to an extent. Well maybe not dissapoint but perhaps fall a little flat. To me the worst thing though will not that he gives a bad performance but that he gives a good/great one but its a bad movie but he is kinda like Christian Bale and Leo. They very rarely choose to be involved in a stinker. I really hope Todd Phillips can deliver on what he has to work with.

I hadnt thought about it but the movie very well could end with the waynes dying in that alley. I kinda hope they dont go that way. Its an iconic scene but we have seen it several times now even a version with the joker doing it. Well sort of, technically Jack Napier

I hear you, have been a huge fan of his for a long long time. It took me a little while to process the news when he was announced in this, I was in disbelief at first.

I think the monsters are tonally at odds with movie. It’s been marketed as a family movie but rated M and deservedly so. I took my six-year-old, having only been made aware the day before that it was M; he mostly loved it but got overwhelmed at one point, got pretty scared.
