That's the problem though, Teague left and we're still running off his blue print from two years ago.

That's exactly why it's Hart's fault. It's his job to reinvent the forward line and keep it tactically relevant. If he's still clinging on for dear life to outdated forward structures with zero ideas of his own then he's clearly out of his depth and the wrong person for the role.

There is still a head coach and don’t forget that Campo’s new role is as head of strategy. Pointing the bone at a junior coach in Hart is simplistic. He doesn’t work alone.

Pyke yes. Plenty of clubs would take him. Got us to a GF in his second year.

Everyone around the league knows by now the crows playing list is mentally lazy and only give 2 years to their coaches.

With a mentally applied list, the assistants he wants and an accountable culture behind him Pyke would be one of the best around.
Hope you don't mind the intrusion but Pyke was very highly thought of at the Eagles and we were very sorry to lose him when he took up his current role. A lot over here credit Pyke with being the brains behind as to why we rose up the ladder so quickly to make the 2015 GF, albeit with a terrible result on the day! I had the Crows as being one of the big improvers this year and it still may happen. It's still early days - just a change of desperation is needed & things can turn quickly - anyway good luck for the rest of the season and lets hope things improve for the sanity of your supporters!

Who? Which teams would want Pyke? Or to put it another way, which coaches would you rather were at AFC?

I'm not saying he couldn't be great ... but right now, not showing me much "greatness"?

I'm not advocating pushing out another coach ... what I'm saying is that we can't keep going to the same well. We need some change. Hardwick is a premiership coach because they changed how they went about it ... they didn't like the results that were coming.

People say "2017" ... well what do you remember as being different there? Go back and watch some of Walsh's early games - go back and watch some of the 2017 games against good teams. It wasn't just the method, something has gone from our club and it's up to the coaches / selectors to rectify it before we lose another year for nothing more than pig-headedness. OR get the eff out the way.

I'd flush out Campo, Clarke, Hart, Burton & Hass before I'd even dream of sacking Pyke. Look at Richmond and Hardwick. They flushed out all his turd assistants and they turned it around.
I agree with this - we have to give Pyke his own guys, not a couple of rusted on assistants, a couple of SANFL apprentices and a guy noone else wants FFS

I'm willing to give Godden and Mattner some time before I write them off. The rest of those guys I mentioned are proven duds though.

Hart is a junior coach? Wtf? He's been in the system for ages. He's a known quantity.

Benny Hart is terrible, but he’s also not a junior coach.

True he doesn’t coach alone, but he’s been in the system long enough for us and Collingwood to know that he’s shithouse. He’s our best defender the club has seen, but he’s a rubbish communicator and a horrible strategist.

His appointment this season is living up to the disappointment we expressed at the announcement of his continued employment.

He's tried to get his own guys, both times we went with cheaper alternatives.

This is why I don't understand why people bang on and on about corporate sponsorships around here. Who the **** cares how profitable the club is when they aren't willing to invest money back into the footy dept.?

Well we know for sure he tried to get Sumich to coach our forwards. Are there any other examples like this of Pyke being screwed over by our crappy, incompetent admin?

When he started in late 2015, right off the bat, he wanted to change the coaching structure (not just personnel). It took the club until late last year to give him that.

I would bet my kidney that if Pyke gets fired we will ‘poach’ Goodwin under the watchful eye of the AFL because it’s win-win for everyone.

Basket case club loses their incompetent coach without even having to fire him, AFL can subsidise another fairytale in their push for Melbourne to break their duck and the boys club is further reinforced with no meaningful results down at the AFC.
Sounds ridiculous but I could totally see this happening.

A tweet from SEN today.

BEN HART: We've got a few guys that aren't in ripping form at the moment. We are a little bit off. We don't play for 8 days so we've asked the players to go and think about a few things.

Can this joker go and think about his low rent coaching ability and not come back??

Our coaching group is unbelievabley arrogant. Their response to the GF showed their true colours. They never make mistakes, it’s all on the players. Pyke is a massive problem.

I do put slightly more emphasis on the players so far, probably 55/45. They are making some elementary errors that no amount of coaching can fix.

Also, if Marty Mattner is in charge of devising the kick out strategy then I don't know what the **** has happened to him in 6 months. Run 5 metres and handball isn't working.

We’ve had the same strategy for years, why would Mattner coming in change it? We do have a head coach and a strategy coach, cannot lay the blame on line coaches when everything would need to be signed off by the 2 higher ranked coaches.

I know this will not be popular but here goes nothing ...
That is completely right but particularly so in Adelaide where there are only two teams and a comparatively small population in a footy-mad state.
There are many players who feel like that, not just Charlie.
Rather than blaming all the coaches and players perhaps some self-reflection is in order?

As an outsider I think your list is just getting too old. Tex in particular could barely get past a fast jog. Eddie has just lost his magic ...

PS. I grew up in Adelaide FWIW and love the place still
PPS. Thanks for Nobes ... not good enough for you but good enough for us ...
PPPS. And Burton ... not good enough for us but good enough for you ... curious if most people here still think Nobes overpays for players?

I don’t think overpaying for players was ever suggested as being a problem. Selling for unders was his constant failure.

He’s got the assistants that he wants. Laughable to suggest otherwise. Financial constraints might have tied his hands for the first couple of years, but he’s in his 4th year, having been re-contracted himself and seen both Campi and Doc extended as well. He’s got who he’s comfortable with.

Pyke doesn't decide who he gets.
