Duggan in for Masten to play that role.. Would mean Willie would push out one of Cole or Rotham then Duggan can go back. Willie is looking at more midfield minutes and definately Masten as the one that comes out but i reckon do it now for Duggan.
Agreed.

agree but I think Schofield will get less chances now in favour of blooding youth by MC ..
Do not think the Eagles really do Youth for youths sake. If youth would need Schofield to be shunted sideways to get a look in, then youth can play in the WAFL.

Rotham slotted in so well, says a hell of a lot for our development programs that he can slide under the radar a bit and then a lot in like he's played 50 games.

No change, or Duggo in for Masten. The only one in the side these days that I hold my breath when the ball goes near.

I’d go unchanged myself, give Duggo another week

I saw him during the 3/4 time huddle and although he had a bit of strapping on the knee, he looked to be moving fine.

Of course I’m not a doctor. But I did play over 9,000 games of colts. Plus my EQ is so high it cannot be measured by modern computers.

but your dreamteam side sucks.

Masto making way might not be the worst idea. Redden so far has been quiet this season and might benefit if Masto was moved on.
That would move Gaff more outside and allow Redden to play a more balanced game.

Gaff was just close to best on ground in his first game of AFL since July. So you want to change his role because ...?

Thought Rotham had a great debut, he was so assured for a rookie. Would be disappointed if he were to miss next week. Interesting to see if Duggin would make it back. No changes otherwise.

Good game but being a genuine outside player, he would be better suited to a bit more of an outside role IMO.
He's disposal would also not be as hurried on the out side.

He was playing the same role all last year, when he was All-Australian and top five in the B&F despite missing the last three rounds and the finals.

I for one think he should keep playing it.

Only change worth considering is Duggan returning at the expense of Rotham if he is fit.

Rotham played well, but Duggan is a superior player, simple as that.

Cole kept Elliot to just 6 disposals and completely shut him out of the match. Why on earth would you even think about dropping him?

People here still have no idea on Masten's role.
How do you think Hurn is able to get up the ground against Collingwood and get 28 disposals? Because Masten worked his ass off all game running defensively to provide cover on his man. And he does it across the entire ground. It is a very specific role - unless you can cover 13km+ at a very high rate you just cannot provide the required cover that frees the HBFs to spread and facilitate the switch that has become such a key part of our gameplan. Getting the ball and accumulating possession is secondary to that requirement.

Put it this way, would you rather:
  • someone replacing Masten getting 20-25 disposals and Hurn getting 10-15;
  • or have Masten getting 10-15 and Hurn getting 20-25?
Masten is fulfilling his role. That role allows the current kicking gameplan to be weaponised by having the ball in the hands of our best disposalists more often. I don't see him getting dropped anytime soon.

Until Rioli is up for selection..

Can you see Cripps, Ryan or Petruccelle being dropped??? Petruccelle has added something to the team noone has in the AFL. He is an absolute weapon.

Can Duggan do Mastens role? Or is Masten just the shittest footballer that can only do this particular role. What happens to Mastens role when Rioli comes in?

Either Masten keeps doing it, Rioli does it (despite the fact it involves a huge amount of running and he’s just missed two months of footy with a foot injury), or we rejig the entire lineup just to drop a bloke because he cut your lunch at the Year 10 Dinner Dance.

O.Allen will most likely be the one who makes way when Rioli eventually returns.

We don't require three key forwards plus two rucks if our full complement of attacking smalls are available.

Masten's played over 200 games and has a premiership to his name.

He missed just a single game last year, despite all the calls every single week from people such as yourself. That single absence was caused by injury. In that match the team conceded 7 goals in the final quarter to St Kilda. It was not coincidental.

Masten is a key reason why opposition sides get very few out-the-back goals against us, particularly late in games when the play opens up a lot more.

Masten will continue to play his role and the club will continue to win games.

Not sure you have the EQ to understand this however.

IQ maybe? No way Oscar Allen will be dropped. He maybe tall but he has athleticism and can cover the ground. You make out only Masten can do it like hes some sort of superhero. Ffs the guy is a squib. Even Rowan Jones won a premiership.

Rioli is also being changed into a midfielder if you havent read that. So forget about him being just the fwd.

I felt like we really needed him in the collingwood game. Darling was nulled. JK was mauled and when kicked long in the air Allen was the most dangerous.
