The gold pass system only works if Hinkley is actually able to accurately assess what is happening on the field, so he can see who is in poor form or bad for structure and leave them in the side anyway.

Instead he's actually got zero idea what good football looks like and as such "ending gold passes" is a meaningless platitude.

I think we nailed this draft. I'm happy for us to have another pretty shitty year, get another decent pick and let Schoey take over next year. Finishing 8th and bowing out in an EF would be a disaster.

Finishing 8th would get you pick 11. We used pick 12 on Butters last year. It's never a disaster to make the finals, especially for a club so starved of September action as we have been since 2004.
