It's not me that's missing the point. Being near the top in the ranking points when the team has been disappointing means those players are a very, very, very small part of the problem because the effort is obviously there with those particular players.

But you could send a message by dropping someone else. If you swapped Tex for Fogarty then you would have lost as much as dropping Gibbs and you would send a message. Gibbs being out means that Mackay and Kelly stay in the team when they should be dropped whereas you could of used Gibbs in the backline which would at least mean you have another good user back there.

The point is creating unrest in the playing group by dropping an ‘undroppable’, and subsequently getting a lift from 20+ guys, as opposed to just getting a better performance from 1.

Our best 22 is painfully stagnate, and seem worryingly complacent when they are out on the park on game day.

Dropping Mackay and Kelly, although warranted, does not change the mentality of the playing group.

And we need our list playing like their position in the team is on the line, otherwise we are on the fast track to another 10-12 win season!

Gibbs is a player with enormous ability+super skilled. But could learn a bit from watching Gold Coasts last two wins.
Most of the GC players don't lace Gibbs boots as footballers. .But go out and have a red hot go and play for there jumper.

That's crap, Gibbs was one of our very best and consistent performers in 2018......however he's been average to poor in 2019 and his game against Geelong was terrible, 27 disposals of which 11 resulted in turnovers also bearing in mind the bulk of his possessions were uncontested.

The issue I have is that he's a good player but not part of the old AFC boys club, which is why he was an easy target to drop to "send a message".

I'm not saying he didn't deserve to be dropped, but no way were we gonna drop one of the entrenched guys before the new kid.

Last time you might remember I ran a competition asking posters how long Jenkins and Mackay would remain dropped for. Many people guessed multiple weeks, and many people were horribly wrong! Because they immediately returned.

So with the latest news of Bryce Gibbs getting dropped, here's your chance to win internet points by predicting how long he will remain out of the side!

If you start dropping senior players for poor form and the player is nearing the end of his career, you almost need to permanently drop them and play a kid in their position. The only time you would bring them back is if you have a bad run of injuries. Walker, Betts, Jacobs, Mackay, Dogulas and potentially even Gibbs are fast approaching this stage or have already sped past it.

-We received Gibbs, pick 19 and chump change

So we effectively traded pick 10 for Gibbs as pick 16/pick 19 pretty much equal out. Isn't this correct?

I can see Harto getting dropped for Fog if Fog sorts himself out as an intercept defender. If we are persisting with him there in SANFL it’s because we want to play him there this season.

Betts, JJ, Walker, Lynch, Matt Crouch are all senior players that need a god damn rocket too. Our selection committee should start making these calls more regularly to make it a lot more uncomfortable for these ‘lock’ players.
