Interesting watching Joels ASmartey in the ruck. Left to his own devices he has a good leap and can tap. BUT as soon as body pressure is applied he loses balance.

Pretty much this. The pace of the game at NEAFL level is much slower than AFL level, anyone wanting to succeed in the AFL should be consistently better than the opposition and able to handle that pressure easily

If you asked me at the end of last year I would have said he won’t make it. He had not improved that much from when he was in the academy and was often outplayed by academy kids we did not place on the list at the end of last year.

In saying that with a few blokes having moved on he is getting more opportunity and he has been a lot better this year.

I am not convinced he will make it, I think the step will be too great, but he does have some AFL attributes so I can’t count him out completely.
