My early ideal offseason would 2 work the draft so we can somehow have 2 picks before J Mead is bid on and to land Tomlinson as a FA or trade for Francis

Yep

We have 4 4th rounders

There is no point drafting 4 kids in this years fourth round. It’s not strong enough

If we want to get any value out of those picks we need to make sure they are what we use to match any bid on mead

If mead is going to get bid on after our second, then that works out great.

If mead is going to attract a bid before our second rounder we absolutely must move it.

Trade it up. Trade it out for 2020 picks. Trade it for a young player. Trade it out and back in like Sydney. Do Something valuable with it.

SPP spotted talking with Eagles

OK he played with many at East Perth and trained with Eagles 2016 but ....

if he goes, (and I hope he doesn't) then his future replacements would be:-
J. Mead - the end of this year,
T. Schofield - the end next year and
one of the other future father son midfielders that are about to join our ranks over the coming years.

also if he goes then it would cost West Coast a young KPF (to partner our 198cm Marshall in the coming years).

The young west coast KPF (and KPD) that are on their list is:-
- Oscar Allen 192cm (Ex West Perth - a swingman, has footy smarts, athletic ability)
- Matthew Allen 193cm (Ex Glenelg - who has endurance, pace, a left foot kick and can also play midfield)
- Jarrod Brander 195cm (Ex Bendigo / Geelong - good endurance, KPF / KPD

With 75% of your posts being SPP related, defence of his mates on the West Coast board etc. I am going to guess you are either a mate or family.. and if SPP had originally played for a Fremantle WAFL team I would even suggest your username could imply you are SPP himself

Are you sure you don't know more than you're letting on :p

Lol. SPP is contracted until the end of next year and Port are probably working on a contract extension now.

Masten is 30 years old this year and we will give up SPP and Lycett (who isn't going back after 1 year) for him? I don't think so. And they can throw in all the unknown KPP's on their list they want.

Maybe they could offer us 30 year old in 2020 Luke Shuey. What a bargain.

Port don't rate this draft particularly so draft picks are of little interest. What could West Coast possibly offer?

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that nobody is clueless enough to suggest that swapping Lycett (a year into a 5 year FA deal) and SPP back to WCE for Masten (!!!!) would ever be considered.

Jack lukoscious is where we should be chucking a good, cashed up deal.
We have the cash side covered, but at present Adelaide, by virtue of Carlton's pick, have more pick currency then us (if they don't chase him this year, they could still look to trade this years low first, for a likely low first from 2020 to use when his 2 years are up). And he's not going to last by threatening to walk into the draft.

So the fun bit. If we want to beat out the neighbours then getting GC a player that walks into their starting 18 (and is good!) needs to be included. Your player picked must:
1. Be 25 or under.
2. Be starting 18 every week (if not injured). No fringe players.
3. And most important be a player that has you going 'He's not on my list of tradeable players'.

Point 3 is the most important, because those are the only players that will have the necessary currency (along with a good pick), to start a real conversation. No, here's 5 4th round picks, an upgrade on a 2nd round, Cam Hewett and Frampton. All real trade suggestions can't include one side of the equation having more than one pick/player than the other side (e.g. no 5 picks / players out, 2 picks / players in).

So we can stunt his career or prevent Adelaide from furthering it?

Given our track records of developing young KPF's I'd rather not sell the farm on one. Wait till one is actually established and poach again....

Broady hasn’t played a meaningful AFL minute for like... 2 years? This is like when weirdos were counting Jarrad Redden as missing from our first 22 for all of 2014. Once you’ve missed that much time, yep, you’re behind the guys who have been in the team for the entirety of your extremely lengthy absence. Not writing him off, I love the guy and it would be great to see him work his way back, but he simply cannot be counted on to return to his previous self, in any reasonable analysis.
Plus everybody knows that the best way to treat loyal club servants who have missed a substantial amount of football is to throw them in the deep end against a traditional rival in a game where you're guaranteed to get absolutely demolished only for them to perform poorly (along with all their teammates) and then chuck them from your list never to be seen again.

Dunno about that, that was true a fair few years ago. I think we're doing a good job with marshall and thats the most recent evidence.

Currency won’t have anything to do with lukos decisions

If he wanted to leave as long as we haven’t traded away our 1st rounders we are fine.
