Hogan would of made such a difference, they appear to have no one in that forward zone to take a contested mark one on one.
Hoping T.McDonald and Weideman would suffice

Amazingly the commentators still get excited whenever he goes near the ball.Christian FlatTracker was at his lazy best tonight. God he must be beyond frustrating to have in your team.

I thought he was up and about in the first quarter and then completely disappeared.Christian FlatTracker was at his lazy best tonight. God he must be beyond frustrating to have in your team.
Agreed on Hogan.A huge mistake trading out Hogan.
Also trading pick 2 (Kelly) for Salem and a bag of chips
Hogan and Kelly would transform the Dees
Yeah, had they have drafted Cripps who went four picks later, it would be a genius move. That’s the difference between strategy and execution.Agreed on Hogan.
I can see why Melbourne did the other trade - the "bag of chips" was a pick 3 with two years development, so you're looking at pick 3 and 9 for pick 2 and something in the late teens (plus other stuff) which seems quite reasonable... until you insert what we know about each player now. It's really a hindsight trade failure.

Soon to become a free agent aswell. Not sure there was much more Melbourne could have done.Didn't Hogan want to leave though?
Also, there was a lot of panic in Melbourne's ball handling.
Yeah **** the private school boys from good families off I say. Anywhere north of Albury they're playing union and preparing for their second careers in finance, which is fine because at least most people don't have to hear about them.

Melbourne were happy for him to go with his off field issues.

Had bad family issues like during the whole combine his family caused scenes that turned ppl off. He would rock up to training late because he lived so far away and was pretty much homeless at stages last year. Not getting drafted gave him a kick up the arse and he had to get out of wa for his own well-beingI'm really not sure why the focus on Private School kids.
Stack was genuinely in discussion as the most talented kid in WA last year, but "rumours" came out pretty early that he had some serious off field issues going on.
I can't tell you what the off field issues were because I don't know.
I do know there was a lot of discussion from the WA draft watchers just before the draft that neither WA team was going to draft him because of what ever Stack had going on.
He was bypassed in the National Draft and Rookie draft. Obviously what ever was going on in his personal life was enough to scare every team off.
My guess is that Richmond brought him in because they lost their midfield depth during the trade period.
And so the story of Stack living with the coach now gets told.
Obviously had to get out of WA to succeed. Great pick up by Richmond, and I hope the kid does well on and off the field.

Has worked his arse off since coming over all pre season he’d run himself into the ground until he’d vomit multiple times a session deserves the rewards he’s now getting
We all wanted Toumpas so bad on this board to be fair. He looked Juddlike in his draft year.
One of the biggest wake-up calls to me that us armchair pundits are really just firing wildly in the dark when assessing players.

Sumich is a massive wrap for him saying he’s a top 10 pick on talent so to get him for free is a winGood get Tiges. He looks a massive win.
Eli is tracking really well, putting some good form together in the NEAFL, he's a very rough chance to come into the side for this weekend as a replacement on the inside for Mathieson. He looks like a beast.Sumich is a massive wrap for him saying he’s a top 10 pick on talent so to get him for free is a win
But it’s more our culture they embraced him flaws and all and he’s put the work in
Xavier Clarke is a big part of it as well Sydney has just moved in with him and his family
When you hear bad issues you automatically think drugs or alcohol but supposedly that wasn’t the issue with Sydney himself.
While I’m here how’s Eli smith tracking?
Richmond board were in love with him and wanted him blokes a bull. Though can’t complain with man child ross 28 touches against OliverEli is tracking really well, putting some good form together in the NEAFL, he's a very rough chance to come into the side for this weekend as a replacement on the inside for Mathieson. I'll never pass up an opportunity to have a dig at private schoolsI'm really not sure why the focus on Private School kids.

I think the wider point is that they aren't firing wildly in the dark, they're relying on what and who they know. Andrew McGrath (good player but that's not really what's being assessed half the time) was a recruiter's wet dream- Brighton Grammar, good family and all that shit (zzzz). James Aish- family heritage and footy world connections, already played for Norwood (would that opportunity be afforded to just anyone?).We all wanted Toumpas so bad on this board to be fair.
