Yes there’s definitely a sequel. The Rock (who also exec produced this) confirmed last week that filming will begin around this time next year.

The tease of Mister Mind I’d say is the most likely method to introduce Black Adam into this world.
He was referring to the Black Adam film, which is separate. It’s still up in the air if and when the two will come together.

The cynic in me still thinks they’ll try to accelerate their crossover and put it into the Shazam sequel. But it does seem DC Films have their shit together and will hopefully pursue a BA stand alone, time will tell.

Early buzz is horrific so probably would have been better giving Del Toro another go.

I was going to check it out but after the critical panning it’s received (was 11% on RT last time I checked) I’ll pass. Did enjoy what Del Toro did all those years ago, but this seems to be an absolute bomb.

From what I was reading, Black Adam is confirmed to shoot next year, Shazam has been given the greenlight for a sequel. Probably not enough time to have Black Adam in the sequel, so maybe the third film if it gets that far (end a trilogy with a crossover?).

Wonder how Hellboy does. I have a feeling thats going to flop. Shame Del Toro never got his 3rd film.

I opened up the newspaper this morning The West Aus and the reviewer gave the film 0.5/5 .. Yikes and If I recall RT has it at 9%.

Makes me want to watch it even more, surely it can't be that awful.

If only WB didn’t rush the universe building and kept faith they would had been successful

MOS was good but they rushed it with BvS and JLA which made no sense to occur so quickly and so poorly developed.

DC has sort of redeemed themselves with WW,Aquaman and Shazam but it’ll never reach the heights as Marvel

Watching Endgame really shows how real risks with patience really paid off with Marvel to develop their own studio and having full control.

I’ve read and listened to many “what went wrong” theories and for me Mark Hughes nailed it best. Was a combination of factors that kicked off with Snyder convincing Nolan to allow Zod to be killed by Superman.

This swayed some creative control to Snyder, who at that time was a “director for hire” to being Nolan and Goyer’s film to screen.

It sounded like Nolan wanted to step away and focus on other projects (he was completing Interstellar at the time and then had Dunkirk lined up).

So almost by default, Snyder became the de facto head of the universe in the absence of a Feige like figure. He then got his wishes, bringing in Bruce and Diana into the next film, which should in fact have been an MOS sequel.

Whilst on paper that was doable, the major flaw was Doomsday. Terrible mistake. The mere presence of Doomsday equates to a Kal El death.

Way way too early. You can only do this with a fully established, revered Kal El. Not the frowning, woe is me version that Terrio and Snyder wrote. They just didn’t understand the character in front of them, and instead wanted to accelerate an Anti Life Darkseid future.

Poor decision making from the outset that wouldn’t have been allowed to happen if there was the correct leadership in place, from someone who understands the characters (ie, Feige).

Anyway, the recent recovery has been great. WW, Shazam and Aquaman have hit it out of the park for me and if that’s what the future holds (individual meaningful stories that move away from the ensembles) then that’s fine with me.

Can DC afford to NOT do a Darkseid team up film now? Is it still in the works? Are they going to get a Green Lanturn established for it and include Shazam in it? Marvel is going to have a bit of a lull now (after Spiderman 2 and eventually GotG3) so they have time to make 2020/21 about them.

There is videos online of Kevin smith discussing the reported triology that was meant to happen around BvS and then justice league, it involved green latern and darkseid. And another related video of Zac Snyder discussing similar concepts.......if only they played the long game and not rushed things.

I think the opportunity has come and gone for now to see that arc through. At least for the short to medium term, I don’t believe revisiting the ensemble films are on the table for the next few years.

Especially with Affleck having walked, and Cavill all but done. There’s nothing in the works, the Darkseid storyline was Snyder’s arc that was set to culminate in the third film.

Darkseid was to appear in the Batcave and murder Lois, with Bruce unable to prevent her death. This was to happen in the second JL film and was teased in the Knightmare sequence of BvS (“she was my world, you took her from me” and later with future Barry’s comment “she’s the key”)

Darkseid was to then conquer the earth at the end of that film, with Superman succumbing to the Anti Life and thus dystopian future teased in the Knightmare.

It’s disappointing in the sense we’ll never get to see that play out in full, the concept was glorious. But it was just way too rushed. Over a meaningful period of time, this would’ve been far more achievable. But JL started filming just 3 weeks after BvS was released, and the panning it copped then significantly altered their next moves.

So it’s not a possibility for the foreseeable future.

I’m also hearing the possibility of Reeves’ The Batman perhaps being set in the similar Elseworlds set up that Phoenix’s Joker is in (ie a reboot that will expand young Bruce Wayne shown in the trailer).

Deathstroke would be brilliant, I doubt we’d see him in a future film otherwise give the way JL performed.

One of the key failures of the first SS was the poor choice of villain. It should’ve been Joker. Surely they don’t make the same mistake again.

Just crazy enough to work. Pattinson has spent the past few years eschewing teen heart throb roles and doing artsy stuff that is apparently quite good. I haven't seen them, so no idea how it will play out, but I reckon he could surprise people based on what I've read.
