Have we been overtaken by the horde ?

We needed to adapt to the rule changes and other teams being better prepared for our game plan...and we haven't done that. (understandable given the success of the last 2 seasons.) We also needed to prepare for the post Rance/Cotchin/Reiwoldt era and we're having that forced upon us at the same time.

A combination of the two makes us look relatively a lot worse than we are.

I actually think all of these injuries have allowed us to discover replacements and give space for our middle tier player to step up in their absence. It has also come at a perfect time of the year. If the injuries had of occurred later in the year, these new players would not have had the time to develop their game, become confident in their ability/role and for the coaches to learn their capabilities. The teams we are playing atm are also not of the highest caliber so the drop off while the team adjusts, is less significant.

While we struggled against Collingwood and GWS due to injuries before and during those games to crucial personale (ir Rance, Riewoldt, Short and Cotchin), we have now proven that our structures and game plan will only improve on the back of change this year.

So have we been overtaken? God no, in fact I think we are only becoming stonger!

People soon forget that Collingwood's massive improvement came from playing youth through injury.
We have found some good youngsters and more established players are taking more responsibility.

I don't get it we're a better club now, have had 2 great years 1 bad 3 decent. I admit i was on the sack Dimma train in 2016. But I've eaten humble pie.

I don't get it we're a better club now, have had 2 great years 1 bad 3 decent. I admit i was on the sack Dimma train in 2016. But I've eaten humble pie.

No doubt we are a better list now than when we won the flag but the competition is stiffer now too. Still if we can manage our way through all the dramas and grab a top four spot we will give it a shake.
