Anyway, what a great city Melbourne is... Over 24 hours there will be around 160,000 spectators at the MCG for footy. Amazing!

Interesting that, and I know it is at an advantageous time relative to europe and north america, but yesterdays game was trending number 1 globally for a time yesterday on twitter

Popular AFL games, eg. Friday Night, Finals and Marquee games usually do.

Doubt will see and decent TV viewership numbers for tonight’s game. Port/north not a drawer.

GA apparently sold out for Q clash. No doubt the seats you see on tv - the $50+ ones - will be empty. This is where the AFL could help more by underwriting the cost of seats to allow for more GA sections at Metricon.
So, what would that attendence be. 19K?

What would a pass mark for ratings be tonight?
750K total?

Or the Suns could just charge less and potentially make more money? An unsold seat raises precisely $0.

Furthermore, how often does GA sell out?

It’s a joke up here at Metricon and Gabba the GA “sells out” it’s just an excuse to sting people cash.

Last game at Metricon v Carlton crowd was 14k (50% capacity) yet the GA was sold out and they were stinging people $40+ For a ticket.

Gabba just as bad. Can put the casual supporter off. Is crazy in my opinion

Geez, and they want to expand the game up there.

This is the extent of the GA areas i found on the suns website.
unlike the mcg or marvel where you can hand over $25 or so and walk in and get a good seat this is what the casual fan up here has to choose from unless they want to hand over twice that amount.

THe AFL FTA ratings were 662K including regionals last night

...just 57K ahead of the NRL

So are rare loss is on the cards (in terms of averages obviously not minutes watched) if the NRL gets more the 57K than the AFL which one would think likely given the FTA numbers

I still think those numbers are OK for the AFL given the profile of the teams

Genuine question, who controls ticketing for GC? Is it the GC or the AFL?

I remember reading something years ago that suggested the AFL is hands on with that agreement, but I forget to what extent that was or the timeframe

Looking at the GC/Bris game, stadium looks a lot more empty tgan I thought it would be considering both sides have started very well this season. What woukd be an acceptable crowd?

Re: Tigers/Demons clash, I think it passed a big test this round.

Demons form had been horrible and Richmond's had been patchy so was wondering if it dropped off a fair bit the AFL would be concerned; but over 70k suggests that it looks foolproof against most cirumstances

So NRL got 254 to the power Norths 202 on Foxtel giving the AFL a 5k win and retaining a perfect head to head record this season. AFL saved by the 10k watching the a league that otherwise would have no doubt been watching the nrl....

I would expect the Suns control it, although with anything financial to do with the club the AFL would probably have some input.

Ultimately ticket prices should be something 100% within the control of the home club anyway.
