A lot of our board probably would have taken a good pick for Billings last year when he wasn't living up to expectations, but he's obviously had a huge preseason and done some things off his own bat (like working on the mental side of his game and doing boxing sessions) and it's all resulted in him playing AA type level footy this year.

I reckon you'd regret it if you traded him.

Yeah personally I'm not in the trade camp, it's pretty much selling at the lowest point right now.

Why are people saying it is to early to judge him? He is 23 and played 70 games..

Type of a player to get 20 positions an a goal that's a handy level just not the superstar level..

70 games too early to judge him!!! What are you smoking?

Certainly near the top of the list of the most over rated players in the comp. But then again he is playing for a club that has over rated themselves entirely this year.

How the **** have WE overrated ourselves? We haven’t come out and said ‘Hey, we are premiership contenders’. It’s the media and some supporters who have done that.

He can clearly play the game and has a lot of ability, but he has to work on some key fundamentals. Firstly he is a very big boy, at 96kg he is carrying 4kg more than Martin & Cripps and conceding height. At 186cm he needs to be 91-92kg.

He isn’t fit enough for a full game in the middle and doesn’t work hard enough inside forward 50. If he is playing forward he needs to be aiming for 5-8 tackles a game and adding a heap of pressure whilst hitting the scoreboard one to three times for a goal.

Most Melbourne fans here acknowledge he is one that really needs to lift, because at the moment he is pretty lazy. If his first 70 games have been this way then his next 70 should be the better half. We just need to decide where to play him and how.

He’s presently playing as a short key forward. Yet he has no acceleration on the lead or out of stoppages, struggles to mark the ball, has no vertical leap, doesn’t position himself well in contests, snatches and fumbles at the ball, is poor evasively, doesn’t tackle well or often enough and loses his feet too much.

Apart from that he’s playing well.
