Collingwood can stop referring to their jumper as the most iconic jumper in the league.

Rewove the fact they went from predominantly white to predominantly black, is lauaghable that they are so insecure that an South Australian Club cant honor their heritage in a game involving South Australian clubs.

There is a big difference between prison bars and strips, so to think the club is worried about confusion just proves how insecure they are.

Imagine if they were in the EPL:tearsofjoy:

But we’re not the EPL, we don’t play in a euro league so we don’t have the potential to play hundred of different teams every season...

There are 18 teams. If a team wants to enter they create their own unique identity. If Port fans want to see the prison bars, go to the SANFL where they belong.

Port Adelaide was not promoted from the SANFL to the AFL.

Yeah but it's also hard for you to be impartial. To be honest them wearing the PB impacts Collingwood in no way with games that don't involve them (especially only in showdowns).
The whole situation is laughable, but is the AFLs decision to make

It’s simple, you give them an inch and they’ll go a mile. Oh it’s only showdowns, that worked so only home games, then it’s home games v Collingwood...

How about they simply embrace the teal and silver that are apart of their heritage in the AFL and stop trying to pretend they’re a SANFL club in the big league.

Is there any precedent in other codes where clubs have been docked wins/points for violating uniform policy?

Canterbury Bulldogs got fined for wearing the wrong jersey against Parramatta in 2018, but they lost so it didn't matter (picture below is the game in question)

Regardless of what Mr McGuire says, or some out-of-date "contract", or lily-livered non-handling of the issue by the AFL, I feel we'll get our way in the end. We are the Port Adelaide Football Club; we have a long history of overcoming adversity & succeeding in our endeavours.

What was the background around them wearing it? Was Eddie McGuire involved?
They had another jersey for this game (pic below) it wasn't released from the dry cleaners or something in time for match day

Meanwhile in the 90s, two NSWRL teams (Western Suburbs and Penrith) both wore predominantly black and white jerseys;

Despite the fact that there were 2 teams wearing Black and White, no issues were raised until Penrith changed jerseys for the Super League in 1997

Yeah but it's not adversity, it's a kit, so if you get it that'd be nice, but if you don't.. s**t hey guess you'll just keep on playing.

The best thing you could do as a club is smash expectations and wina flag in the V, make it a kit you're also proud of.

Except the club has confirmed that they don't want the Bars full time. Only for Showdowns. We aren't one of those club's that takes a mile from an inch. That honour belongs to a majority of the Victorian clubs - a certain club stating with C that wears black and white stripes comes to mind.

Port Adelaide: "Collingwood and the AFL are being petty and unfair."

Also Port Adelaide: "Hey, Gold Coast, we forbid you to wear red."

big difference between "we're going to the trouble of hosting games in china so we'd prefer it if you didn't undercut us by wearing their national colours in this one game" and "you're not allowed to wear the iconic jumper your club wore for 100 years, ever"

The big difference would be the Suns want to wear their official colours, whereas Port Adelaide don't.
