In thAat moment, no, but he should have kicked it 2 bounces earlier - Harry was way in the clear.

Plenty of bad moments at the end by numerous players....

Richmond game plan really troubled us and they were the better team for much of the night.

Time to sharpen up our skills though - they were deplorable across the park.
How far would he have had to kick it if he kicked 2 bounces earlier?

I thought Dimma smashed Voss in the coaching stakes tonight.....

In what way specifically? I mean, he had a dominant ruck and the ability to put pace into his centre bounces, but that's a product of personnel rather than coaching.

Simple rule of footy, you have it, control it. Pierce a footy to a one on three doesn’t cut it. Bounce the ball three times in twenty metres with the ears pinned back doesn’t cut it.
He hit a Coleman medalist lace out. If H didn't fall over, it's an uncontested mark.

I despise everything about the Richmond Football Club and their pathetic despotic overlords the AFL.

Richmond, are pure and simple, the biggest cheats in the AFL.

And the Green campaigners didn't enforce a ****ing thing.

Charlie was abused all night.

It was disgusting.

**** Richmond, **** [PLAYERCARD]Shai Bolton[/PLAYERCARD]. **** that Dog Lynch.

It will be a grand day when the Richmond Football Club is in the dirt where it belongs.

Lewis Young’s last marking contest was deplorable. Saad autocorrects to sad. Appropriate.

Young had a couple of shaky moments but he never dropped his bundle. He was pretty strong most of the night. (Did I mention that I called him weak early in the game?)

Saad just couldn't get a handle on the ball. His performance made me hope that age didn't catch up to him over the offseason. He's usually the one I'd trust the most.

Yep was sitting on the opposite half back flank behind him. The moment got to him and he ran too far. McKay was out by 30m either if he kicked it 1-2 bounces sooner. Grimes was out of position. Him running too far allowed Grimes to drop back in to the hole. Again, even if he doesn’t hit McKay on the tit, the ball could’ve been dribbled through for a point or a stoppage as a boundary throw in. He cooked it.
You were sitting in the crowd, Lachie is paid to play on the MCG.
There are many moments in life, elite athletes, I’m assuming you’ve never been one, have less than milliseconds to make options, which could please some and greatly disappoint others, on this occasion, you’ve chosen with a great amount of time available more than Lachie to be dissatisfied in his millisecond’s decision.
These two bounces you’ve mentioned, place’s Lachies kick in the 80/60 metre range given the speed at which he, as an elite runner would have placed his kick.
Grimes was out of position dozens of times during the game, but this time is the real kicker for you.
Grimes’ hole dropping would mean diddly if Harry had kept his feet and dragged the ball in and marked.
He hit Harry’s hands on a ****ing dime, Harry dropped the mark, I’d wager my house, Harry would be apologising to Lachie, not the other way round.
Your logic and reason is a personally biased opinion about Lachie O’Brien and a split second decision on the MCG in the first game of the year after Harry missed two ****ing sitters in less than 5 minutes of footy.
I love ya mate, but take a breath, sit back, there is a world of pure fascination, and we get to witness it, just be a bit more logical and reasonable.
See ya next week!❤️👍

Disagree with anyone saying that LOB did the wrong thing there. He receives a handball from Motlop on the half-back flank. Rioli is quickly on his tail, so he doesn't have time to stop and look for a short sideways or backwards target. There's no one immediately up the ground for him to kick to. His only choice is to run forward.

He runs, and looks for a target. Again, He doesn't want to go corridor because that's an even greater risk of turnover, so he tries to find someone near the boundary. Sees McKay one-on-three, close to the boundary. Chances are pretty good that McKay either marks it or can knock it over the line. Kicks it perfectly, lace-out to McKay.

It's difficult to see what he could have done differently.

If he had tried anything else (kicking it backwards into the tiges' fifty, trying to find someone in corridor and turning it over), we would all be asking why on earth he hadn't run down the line and kicked to McKay to try to at least get a boundary throw in stoppage.
If we go back to the very beginning, maybe O'Brien shouldn't have called to receive the handball and rather kept running harder and instruct Motlop to kick it to him for a mark.

I think we got it wrong with selection we could have carried 1 newbie but not 2. Still it was a good learning curb for them playing in front of a massive crowd.
Can't believe people rubbishing this game and hanging players out to dry it was absolute pressure cooker and close all night.

In summary all I can say is I was really proud of our effort tonight win.

Hollands and Cowan were both pretty good though. Hollands in the top few for distance covered along with Ed Curnow...our team needs that run given we're missing Walsh and had a few underdone players. Cowan with some nice marks and tackles. Kicking was iffy though.

With Walsh injured there is a spot for Hollands. His competition is Cottrell who is also injured and LOB/maybe Carroll who he's jumped ahead of already. Cowan gets a game given Williams and Boyd are both injured. His only competition is Cincotta, another newbie.

Go back and watch Ed curnow on prestia in the lastquarter. You might be surprised.
Ed did a good job on Prestia for sure but his disposal is terrible and we have a good enough midfield now that we shouldn't be carrying a tagger IMO.

On a side note.
  • Shai Bolton missed an absolute sitter 25m out in the last
  • We got a very crucial point at half time as the ball rolled through about 3 seconds after the siren went!!!
Yeah what was that about? Siren went and ball kept going after it was touched. Lucky.

It's hard to fathom whether we actually trained for that kick in strategy.

If we did, wtf?

If we didn't, and yet still played like that, wtf?

Crazy shit. Not a lot to take out of tonight other than some good signs from Cowan and Hollands

We played poorly and got lucky.

Richmond could have buried us a number of times.

Bring on Geelong - we will be better for the run.

I thought we were lucky to come away with two points.

We were very fumbly compared to the Tigs who played one touch football all night.

We couldn’t get chains on compared to the Tigs who did it all night.

Our players played with zero IQ, got pushed under the ball and out muscled all night.

Our players shit the bed …. again … when it was time to ice the game and we’re lucky in the end not to lose.

Owies and Martin gave less than zero, very disappointed in these two the most.

We got two points, % doesn’t matter now and it looks like another year with heart in the mouth football …. damn!
