I am assuming you turned off Mitch Marsh's innings in protest and disgust ?

What is wrong with enjoying watching boundaries ?

Cherry picking a line from the whole post out of context, Way to prove my point.

I said Bazball is simply tempo cricket with sugar coated marketing, which has been done by plenty of teams over the journey where required without all the over the top, holier than thou fanfare.

Did you know that for the series Australia hit more boundaries and more sixes? I doubt it as it would require you to look into something with a modicum of depth.

So, given the series was tied, we won, right?

Actually, we did win (the urn).

You keep saying it's "tempo" cricket, when all of the records show that's it much more than that.

It's not a side doing it in one innings or one test match.

Boundaries have nothing to do with it.
It's all about run rates and early declarations.

If you can't see it's different from other sides in the past, you obviously don't want to look at the facts.

I don't think anyone here who is defending Bazball is including the messiah complex side of it in that either, the carry on is embarrassing but I think you can still acknowledge the on field side of it seperately .

What I'm saying is that all they are doing is going ultra aggressive at the expense of everything else AKA playing up tempo.

it's not this amazing revolution of cricket because other teams have played that way when required in the past, but it's not sustainable and it's not anything that hasn't been seen before in test cricket.

It's extremely flawed as the first test proved and relies on a flat deck and the other team not containing a bowling lineup capable of knocking over 20 wickets.

juice the wicket or make it a raging turner and watch them retreat into their shells quick smart.

Will be very interesting.....

"England to play India in five Test matches between January and March 2024, with Dharamsala among the venues. England will play India in five Test matches between January and March of next year with games held in Hyderabad, Vizag, Rajkot, Ranchi and Dharamsala"

Ouch, England lose 19 and Aus lose 10 pts for slow over rates. Over half the WTC points available for the series were docked
Its hard to bowl your overs in time when the opposition is scoring at 5+ an over.

Dot balls save way more time than runs and boundaries

Why no ball series? When was our last Ashes that didn’t have a white ball seties either side of it

The World Test Championship match was in early June and then England's The Hundred competition started on 1 August. Simply no time to squeeze anything into the calendar.

So immediately after the Ashes is over they tell us that Cummins has some kind of elbow injury and will be out of action for 6 - 8 weeks. I doubt he did that in the nets after the 5th test was over. It seems fairly obvious that Cummins likely acquired that injury during the series and carried it until the end of the series. It would also explain why his form and effectiveness dramatically dropped off from about the half way point of the series. They played him injured. And that was a stupid decision. Even if he is Captain. You can play players with little niggles that just require them to endure some discomfort. But if the injury is something that will cut their output in half and make them ineffective or semi ineffective then you are better off with a fully fit player. They could have replaced him with Neser which would have given us a genuine swing bowler (which none of Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood or Boland are). Or replaced with Lance Morris so we would have some genuinely scary pace to add another currently missing dimension to our attack.

This debacle coupled with picking Warner who has always struggled on any non - Australian wicket are big mistakes that should necessitate a big black mark against the selectors.

He did it in the first bowling innings of the final test.
