Funny you mention this. I was a Balmain football club member prior to the merger with Western Suburbs Magpies going through. I sent numerous emails to the club in the lead up to the merger to say I would not be supporting the merged Wests Tigers entity.
From there I started receiving emails from club CEO Danny Munk, explaining why, in his view, the merger needed to happen, mostly from a financial perspective.
The email exchange went on for several days, and he kind of brought me around. I gave Wests Tigers a go for a while, but ultimately it didn't feel like Balmain and I lost interest over time. I still closely follow the game but don't really have a team anymore.
But, it was great that Munk gave enough of a s**t to get in contact with me personally.
A CEO and club that gave a shit....must be nice.

If Ports season continues to go downhill it won't do Carr's chances any good.
Hearing Yze is the new frontrunner for Richmond. Demons fans have been talking about it the last couple of days.

I’ve heard Carr doesn’t quite have the experience yet for it as well.

here's an interesting Stinkers trend

Check out the downwards trend as the season closes out

anomolies / oddities:

2020 (started top, ended top)
2021 (sat 4-5 most of the season and unusually rose up the last 3 rounds)
2015 (apparent rise once season was over)

Typical seasons:
2013-14, 2017-19; where season was still 'alive' - either flatline or dip

Ooze has been mentioned as a potential coach in the wings for a decade and never got a job despite interviewing a bunch of times. He's basically the Hinkley of now. He wouldn't be a frontrunner for anyone unless they're utterly desperate like we were.

(Having said that, I'd still take him over Hinkley)

So IF Ken gets a new deal, can we trawl back through these threads and publicly shame all those that came in here with a smirk and a wink and a "I have it on good authority that he's already gone" or a "A close contact / somebody who would know says he's already gone" and those spewing bullshit about done deals? IF he gets a new deal. That kind of attention seeking crap should be called out

You'd have to be pretty bored to want to do that, but go nuts.

It was a good thing, for one brief moment there was a glimmer of hope.

It's off topic but that struck me as a really bizarre merger, the two clubs from a distance to me seemed really unsuited to each other. Maybe it was the whole Port Glenelg thing in my mind - and I had an image of Balmain as an affluent area, but maybe that was wrong. A marriage of Magpies and Tigers, I mean WTF?

St George/Illawarra takes the cake though.

Why? Positions change all the time in football. I honestly thought he was done and dusted after 3 rounds (even before the season began really) but then we went on the ridiculous winning streak. Ken may not be able to win anything, but his timing is outrageous.

It made more sense if you thought of it as two foundation, tradituonally working class clubs. And if you looked at it through the lens of Wests' traditional Lidcombe Oval base, and not the club that more or less moved to Campbelltown.
And considering the other merger plan being floated at the time was The Parramatta Tigers, with Parra basically swallowing up Balmain, this one was far more equitable for both clubs.

The Northern Eagles was the real abomination.

Yeah stickers would be great but I wouldn't mind trying something much bigger. Its funny how one sticker made such an uproar.

As much as I would love to fight I am questioning whether there is anything left to fight for. My love affair with PAFC is almost over.
Don't think there's enough of us.

Lol whoever told you that is wrong. He has been in the AFL system for some time across multiple clubs and has won premierships at SANFL level. He is as well credentialed as anyone.

It’s just a BS excuse to reappoint Hinkley.

Probably coming from Koch who recons Tredrea needs to “learn about the club” before joining the board.
