I know time has passed but I believe TDK was dumped the week after being lame against Witts last year. Witts is top notch.

Witts has been one of the main reasons we have struggled against Gold Coast - this will be a great test for TDK.

Pittonet really needs to get to every contest in the first half and hit Witts hard.

I just found out Pitto used to play basketball..
Anyone else heard this ??
Huge if true..
From the Blueseum..

Pittonet is familiar with a number of his new teammates already, with Jack Silvagni a former teammate at Xavier along with David Cuningham at the Oakleigh Chargers. Then, there’s Matthew Owies, who he played basketball with growing up.

With the VFL being the curtain raiser I'm guessing we will hold over 2 players - 1 for sub and 1 for coverage for late outs.

Hopefully Boyd as sub. If we get an injury forward or middle Fisher can shuffle into another role.
Ed for coverage - it's not going to matter for Ed if he doesn't get VFL game time.

Allows JSOS to play some VFL time.

Full game into JSOS makes most sense.

My other theory was that JSOS would be sub, they'd red vest Pitto in Q3, and get a look at both setups.

McKay, Curnow and TDK resting forward does give me the heebie jeebies.

Modern day Rhino O’Sullivan

Except Cuners got there in 8 years while Rhino took 10.

Amazing survival in this day and age though.

Interesting that Pitto (in the good for footy video) was talking about playing on Gawn last weekend. Said that he's very good at about 5-6 different things, so the plan was to limit him in couple of those and not worry about losing hitouts. Said that we weren't worried about giving that up as long as he could curb Gawn in other aspects. He said he wasn't really worried about his own game. Gawn played one his most ineffective games for he year. Pitto also spoke about (as some posters on here have pointed out) basically softening up Oppo ruckmen for TDK to come in and jump all over them. As he did in the third quarter.

Doch also described Pitto as brutal.

I think these are the reasons Voss likes having Pitto in the side and also some of the reasons that we, as supporters, don't really see Pitto's contributions. With many wanting him dropped for a more mobile option in Sos.

In short, Pitto is more valuable to the side than most see.

If I had to pick who I would least expect from our list to have been playing on a basketball scholarship in the U.S.A it would be Matt Owies. But there you go.

Selections make me think they’re going to manage Charlie’s minutes down a little this week. Maybe something like:

Pitto 65 ruck 35 bench
TDK 35 ruck 40 forward 25 bench
McKay 80 forward 20 bench
Charlie 80 forward 20 bench

Would mean we are not super tall forward despite it appearing that we are. Only 2 bugs forward at any one time.

Such a surprise bonus for us that Fog is playing so well...I thought he was finished.

Been really impactful as a midfield rotation, feels like when he's at centre bounces we don't seem to really lose much.

His tackling in elite...wraps up his opponent and often forces a turnover.
I think the fact he doesn't miss tackles in the forward line is the highlight for me.

He may not be the fastest player or even the most skilled but what he brings is pressure to the opposition or preconceived pressure so their disposal is poor.

For me he is the reason our forward line is locking the ball in our forward 50 so well

Two of the best marks in the AFL competition and a young stallion finding his feet - and scaring folk.

Unlikely all three would be forward together at the same time... and even then....

What's the problem?

It's a credit to him that he may have revived his career.

Not the most talented bloke, in fact he's not that damaging with the ball, is a smaller size and lacks tricks, yet has gotten to where he is mostly through work ethic and making himself a defensive beast.

In a team that is really applying the heat and tackling hard, his efforts still stand out.

Also
Has decent footy IQ, reads the play well, good in contests also has nice spatial awareness and the ability to win the ball or help set up his teammates in general play…
Has a few good qualities, not just looking to be a tackling & pressure player played up forward..
