more and more coming out about how much of a tool dimma has become.

i'm not that old, but does anyone remember what he was like when he was playing with us?
Seriously nuts ! He was loved, players/supporters. I’m pretty sure Essendon changed its constitution to award him life membership. He had just missed the criteria. Been an antagonising figure since, but that’s how he played.
Loved the “ our people don’t come here” in reference to Marvel. **** off dimma, I keep hearing about this loyal “tiger army” and I’m getting “ our people don’t come here”
Pissweak.

Orazio at his best is sensational, thing is to get it to last more than 5 minutes a game. Every time he had the ball I felt like he was seconds from a hammy or calf. I used to wince watching him.

If, and a big if, they can keep him on the park, he will be a big asset.

AFL needs to do something with the rookie list . It is an absolute joke that clubs are still delisting players like Wingard and then being able to sign them on the rookie list. If they are going to have an AFL seconds comp , which looks some chance , then they need the rookie list to go back to being a proper rookie list and increase the senior list size.

Abolish it

They may need it if they want to run reserves. It actually worked okay until they started butchering it.
I mean you have up to 44 senior listed players. Abolish the rookie list apart from the Cat B.

May need more than 44 if they want reserves.

Do you reckon the same players get a shot on the senior list as rookies?

Like obviously not Wingard, but do Draper, Lord, Voss, Nyuon types still get a shot in a 44 spot system?

And what happens to the DFA that rookies currently qualify for if they have been a rookie for two years and knock back a third year on the rookie list? Do they abolish that too or just make it a thing for any player at the end of their second contract regardless of contract length*?

*noting that currently, the first 20 odd players in the draft get 3 year contracts, the rest get 2 year contracts unless they're over 21, and mature/PSD picks get 1 year on the senior list as a minimum, so a PSD pick getting a second contract would have given a minimum of two years service before qualifying for DFA, while a first round pick would have the initial 3 year contract plus at least another 1 year contract to qualify as a FA...

They should do some variation of what they do in the NFL with their rosters.

Essentially they have a 53 man match day roster, then another 22 man practice roster as a scout team and reserves where they can move guys up from the 22 but have to drop guys of the 53 man roster.
Any other team can sign a player off the practice team at any time if they have an open 53 man roster spot.

The AFL could do something similar where you have a main 35 man list. The players who play AFL any given weekend have to be picked from this list.
Then allow 15 'Supplementary players' list that play reserves. You can move guys between the two from week to week, but opposition clubs can sign players of the Supp list to their main roster before say round 13 (mid season).

You want to put someone on the rookie list? Sure. But you could lose them at any point, so be careful who you put there.
It would also mean fringe players can move more freely to get a better opportunity.
Obviously it's just a very broad idea, but I reckon it would be fun.
