I mean, FDR basically is the first and last of it of the major parties. If he’d kept George Wallace as his VP instead of changing to Truman in 1944, the state of the Democratic Party (and indeed, the history of the post-war world) would likely be vastly different.

The American democrat party would be aligned closer to our own coailtion when liberalism was a thing vs this far right dogma being thrown out there since Abbott was in. Appreciate Sanders was further to the left than the majority of the Dems but even so he would have fitted in quite nicely to the Labor Right imo.

Recent primary in Iowa it was 40% of registered voters identified as being MAGA types.

So I think 30% is pretty reasonable. It’s why trump kills it with primaries but isn’t necessarily their best bet in a general election.
