Why flat on Blight?

Does anybody know if Noah Howes did any combine testing or what his tank is like
He seems to spend alot of time between the arc's and gets up the ground a fair bit

for such a young player to be doing what he is at SANFL level is fantastic

Heard he was terrible ... all teams should pass on him until our 2nd pick

If we're taking a defender then it tells me that Yze is still wanting Balta forward long term. I know people are saying that we need key forwards, but if they don't believe the players on offer are worthy of being long term investments then why bother. None of the key forwards that have been talked up have really stood out by dominating week after week. They've had brief runs of 2-3 games where they've got themselves noticed, but then faded away. Blight has been probably the most consistent across the season in terms of performances from week to week. As I said last night the club obviously has more of an informed opinion than any of us here, having interviewed the players & their coaches, plus watching them for a couple of seasons most likely.

Happy for the MSD to be the beginning of the list transformation into how Yze wants it to be long term. He will know what type of players he is missing from both the list and the best 23 they he wants to have long term and will no doubt have met with Hartley & Toce to discuss which players in the draft will best suit those needs. I've got players I'd love for us to recruit just like a lot of posters would, but I don't plan on melting if the club doesn't pick them. Hopefully the rest of you are thinking the same.
Blight is a spud ... the only people who will remember him in 2 years are us Tiger supporters trying to get the taste out of our mouth

Howes seems likely to be taken in the upcoming mid season draft by a team looking to bolster their key position stocks. He played in the opening champs game on the weekend and showed some of his talent, although his marking was a little off on the day.

looks a decent key fwd prospect, so i can't see us taking him

Got to laugh how Howes has impressed most clubs leading into this MSD so his name is out there, he is 18 yo competing well at senior level against mature bodies but our club doesn't apparently see much in him so we are going to pick another unknown key player to play in our backline just so we can push Balta forward LMAO

Gibcus, Balta, Kosi, Miller, Young and Grimes all on the list whose best position is KeyBack and Bauer, Tresize, Brown, Vlastuin and Broad whose best position is intercepting back

that is 11 players into 4-5 spots .... and ... we are going to add that potato Blight as well.

This club is faarrkked!

The last time it killed a million so lets not add it to our team?

Most of the key forwards mentioned here are not exactly blowing out of the park. Most have stats of about 1.5 goals a game. Thinking that they are going to do it at a higher level is in my opinion very wishful thinking. Imagine what a 21 year old Jack or Lynch would be doing in the VFL. Ugle-Hagen is just now starting to be a real player, and he was the no.1 draft pick. Same with all the other high draft pic talls. Not much point picking an average key forward, they rarely go on to have a career. Mihochek is one of very few who has.

Much rather go for a young ruck, as we have non, or a young player who shows something but is just starting. Have watched Davison pretty closely since his first practice match. He disappeared for a bit, but the last two weeks, every time he touches the ball something happens. Very smart natural footballer. Look at Essendon's Sam Durham, very good player. They are around.
Noah Howes and remy are 18/19 yo so keep your expectations in check and refrain from comparing to a 31yo Tom lynch
Being teenagers we re clearly looking longer term than 2h this season

We don’t need tall forward or back.
Need midfield and ruck depth
Really , who was bog the other night how many dozen marks did he take and what position did he play , me thinks our HF line was non existent

We have a massive weakness in the ruck. Literally no backup at all bar Ryan, and that's no solace at all.

Ajung Kuol Mun is 206cm and just started playing with Geelong's VFL side. 21 years old, built very strong. Had a game of 32 hitouts and he is a basketballer/soccer p
This is why I'm not overly keen on Scaife, he also had the Freo development pathway.

But the other two Howes & MacLean are younger than the guys we drafted last year.
Without watching scaife his numbers are definitely underwhelming. 4 of his 11 goals also came against the worst side in the WAFL. Wouldn’t mind taking a punt on the Sudanese kid if he’s still available with our third pick. Has a far greater ceiling than the other available rucks in my opinion.

Not sure why you're so keen on Blight. What have you seen that I'm missing? I just have doubts he is up to the next level. He is 22 years old and been playing under Freo's nose and they haven't considered him.

Even though I watch more South Freo games than Peel, I'm not that big on the guy, he looks a million dollars but reckon he should be better, he did play well in the GF last year but I'm still not sold.
Exactly ... once you take away his Kick Ins and kick to kick with other defenders going backwards and sideways (half of which he butchers) he has single figure disposals which half of which he gets playing loose in defense ...

Mutaz might be 5cm shorter but he is twice the player that Spud Blight will ever be ... actually intercepts kicks rather than getting under bombs like Blight
