Mid season draft 2024

Noah Howes and remy are 18/19 yo so keep your expectations in check and refrain from comparing to a 31yo Tom lynch
Being teenagers we re clearly looking longer term than 2h this season
Fair enough, I thought they were older missed drafts etc. It's pretty rare to find a top liner, which we need, not just a stop gap, out of the top layer of the draft. But Richmond do have a knack of finding them, Bauer, if he ever gets on the park could be one.

I am seriously melting at the insanity of drafting another backman - there would be no other club in the competition saying let's recruit Noah as a forward - we are desperate for a forward and we re ruit another spud full back
Our club thinks it's way too clever for the draft, we always do this. I have no doubt the club looks at our list with blinkers on, they see Lynch, Balta, Kozi, Lefau, Bauer & Fawcett on our list and think .... wow we already have 6 key forwards. Thats too many.
The issue is we see right through it, Kozi is no good, Lefau is still learning, Bauer is always injured not proven, and Fawcett hasn't been able to get a game in his first year because of his back. So, what does our club do? We need another key back or High half forward who can jump.

We will select Hutchinson tomorrow, i have no doubt about it because we think he might end up being the next Brodie Mihocek. Feel good story of the year we can write an article about, a guy pulled from the bush league and not even finished his first year of VFL, we think we are so clever.

I now hold grave fears for our national draft if this is how our club is going about rebuilding our list. We are better off trading our top pick for some late first rounders because then we can get away with trying to out smart the system.

People here say dont melt its only the MSD, not many players end up a success from it so no point worrying about it, i see it as a free hit and an actual chance to fix holes in our list.

I think our focus will be narrowed to those just out of u18 , these two are in that category . Happy with either , would love mclachlan from geelong but he ll be gone , Archie May would be a good ruck forward prospect the kid is gonna be a big unit and Davidson would be a very good fit

Who says we're passing on drafting a key forward? We're taking up to 3 picks in the draft tomorrow night and we need help in all areas. When you look at the players available, there isn't that many KPD that have claims, with Blight being the only one to really have any claims to be drafted, but there are a number of key forward/ruck options with Scaife Howes Maclean May Schofield Pike Smit so maybe the plan is to take the defender first and then take best available key forward talent next.

Maybe the long term plan is to take a highly rated KPF or 2 in the draft when we hopefully have multiple picks inside the top 30 and can really address that area with genuine top end talent.
Howes is genuine too end talent ... the rest are plodders

Derek Eggmolesse-Smith smokey for pick 1

Don't melt it's only the MSD*

*And you are planning the club for things that haven't even happened yet

Maybe a Fevola ex...

Doesn't really narrow it down. She's been with half the league.

So who’s your superstar you reckon we will miss at pick 2?

Happy with Hutch
The most talented player in the draft and we should absolutely pick him. Replaces Cumberland for this weeks game and has the potential to play midfield. Super clean skills. I’ve got fingers and toes crossed we pick him.

Davidson and Mutaz with our 2nd and 3rd picks

Captained SA last year ... didn't do physical testing at Combine due to knee injury ... left footer ... 193cm ... with his physical build and his ability to defend smalls and talls it is hard not to be reminded of a young Dylan Grimes ... though he kicks off the left more like Tom Brown
