Is there any update on Port's request to add Doug Cochrane to their NGA? The old man (Stuart) obviously played over 50 AFL games for Port and his brother Tom will debut for Port this weekend so you'd imagine there would be a strong desire to add Doug to the list as well. His grandfather Richard was also a footballer for Central Districts in the SANFL. My understanding is Stuart Cochrane is of indigenous heritage so you'd think there's a fair chance that Doug will be allowed to join Port's NGA, just like Cody Walker in this same draft class who is of indigenous heritage and that means he's NGA eligible for Richmond as well as father-son eligible for Carlton.

Not all indigenous SA kids qualify under the NGA rules set up by the AFL. There was a fair bit of discussion about this when the NGA’s were first introduced.

He was at North for far longer than he was Port.

8 years vs 3 at Port.

In fact, the only thing that probably prevented Stu playing 100 games at North was some injuries and the fact he got drafted as a 16 year old right into one of the strongest sides in our history. He came into the club around the same time as Boomer.

He was our compensation pick for losing Peter Mann to Fremantles list build introduction to the AFL. Mann then won Freo's inaugural B&F.

North selected him at the end of 1994. He didnt move to Port until 2003.

We played in 6 prelims and 3 GF's during his time at North as an extremely young player.

Stu worked at Port for a few years following retirement. But he's not exactly dyed in the wool Port Magpies.

He was a Central Districts junior before joining North, just like Doug is....

Sure, but he ended up playing more AFL games for Port in those 3 years than he did in his entire 8 years with North. Neither stint really matters because he didn't reach the 100 game milestone for his kids to be F/S eligible for either club. However, applying to have his indigenous status recognised by the AFL in order for his son Doug to join Port's NGA probably tells you exactly which club he wants to be most associated with. Plus, his other son Tom Cochrane debut for Port last night so the process has already begun.

Coates talent league app. Had a friend from CD provide the stats though.
Thanks. I'm asking because while I'll head down to watch the first oakleigh game, the 2nd, I'll be hopping on a plane to adelaide for gather round so may miss it.

Hi Guys, where can we find the stats for the talent league matches? Or are they not recorded/published?
