Hardwick said 3-4 changes for GC this week. Been planned for weeks.

Their players lost on average 6 kgs from the game. Will barely train this week.
That's an astonishing number. I'd question the truth of it.

And that's an average? So some players lost more than 6kg? WTF

Reckon someone like Witts could due to his size (and hence why he won't be playing). Stupid to have games there imo.

Meek would makes sense if Witts is out.

Gunston - has to be Dear in ?
Yep, according to Michael Gleeson, apart from Impey who was already ruled out, Gunston, Meek and Breust to be rested for this game. Dear, Scrimshaw and Reeves likely coming in. Not sure who else at this stage. Probably Barrass.

Since Ramma is travelling and he had a great game, more likely Ramma is playing Ruck and not Reeves. Haven't heard about Reeves being part of travelling party.

ChatGPT said it's absolutely possible:

  • In hot, humid conditions, elite athletes can lose 2–3 liters per hour of sweat.
  • An AFL match lasts around 2 hours (including breaks), with about 90–120 minutes of active play.
  • If an athlete loses 2.5 L of sweat per hour, that’s 5 L in 2 hours — equivalent to 5 kg.
  • Combined with some weight loss from glycogen depletion and respiratory water loss, total loss could reach 6 kg in extreme cases.

but man it's a crazy thought to get your head around

Wouldn't be trusting ChatGPT

Timing for marking and also kicking to position is generally off the mark for visiting teams.

Sic should have a blinder then.

It certainly could be true. If you measure AFL players renal function (urea & creatinine) after a game, on numbers alone, most of them will technically be in renal failure, partly due to dehydration and partly muscle breakdown. It all settles with rehydration and rest.
Looks like they just have to drink quite a bit more.
I had to look this up, apparently AFL players normally drink 150-300mL (half a bottle) of fluids every 15-20 minutes during a match.

Box Hill media guy and his ****ing atrocious "old TV" filter that he's declared he's going to use all year despite people asking him to just post clear footage..... 🤮

Surely there'd be a lot of rehydration happening during the time. Negligent by the club if not.

Run up in Houston, TX.

During summer "long runs" quite easily lose 10lbs in 20-25k's (while replenishing fluids/nutrition). And it's humid AF here at 5am in the morning, it's definitely possible.
