How did ____ go on the weekend?

Why not consult the Alesana Player Video Database.

And where are these magic unicorns coming from who want to play for a side with no interest in winning, possibly not play in the correct positions or play at all due to availability???

No above average self respecting wafl player would not hang up the phone when hearing who is ringing them
WC to be competitive in the WAFL need at least 3-4 22yo plus rookie AFL types to be depth for the AFL and pushing for list spots.
Going to have to bight the bullet at some stage to improve both our lists, no good having rookie spots all for developing NGA players, bottom end AFL players who are not good enough.

DFA and players like D Robertson on a rookie spot or minimum chips AFL contract would be ideal, go and get a developing mid from the other WAFL clubs as a rookie spot, otherwise we are not going to attract players of quality imo.
K Bevan WP, J Chalcraft SD etc. are the types we could grab on a rookie spot.

The club should be able to find a way for the benefit of player development

I was talking to this bloke last year down at bassendean oval who mentioned his son was playing for the Beagles.

The player in previous seasons had played 5 Wafl games across 2 different clubs and was playing for I think Cunderdin the year before.

A guy whose contract was mutually terminated can't join another club? Im not even sure what I'm meant to respond too . Common sense shouldn't need to be explained

It wasn’t “mutually terminated”. He walked out of the club.

Reckon the 22-24 yo path for recruiting is the wrong approach, no one who still thinks they can play AFL will be wanting to play for a team getting whacked. Try get older players across for a dual on field/off field role. We can't match other clubs for on field reasons, but they can't get near us for off field reasons.

This is exactly why adding solid midfield depth like Dev or Phillips for peanuts is a good idea, as you say. The AFL carrot should always be dangled to keep them motivated to perform.

There's a couple clowns complaining about it like it's going to sink the club and a couple Moneyball additions are the biggest waste of time ever. If they had a brain they'd realise it's for the benefit of the other young players we've drafted. The Gross, Hall, Grego, Allan types we do expect to have an AFL career. Hell, if the Beagles are more competitive that's better for A.Reid, Jobe and everyone else too.

WAFL midfielders that aren't 18yr old kids is definitely something we should be looking into in the offseason. Legit should be Kellys role for the next 2 years.

Jayden hunt is making Chesser look like prime ablett at the moment

I see Gross had 28.
Anyone who watched who can provide a summary of his game?

Put in 4 quarters of solid footy.

Had absolutely no midfield support around him other than ammos.

Made some mistakes but didn't drop his head, also chased like a mad man defensively and put pressure on the opposition.

Deserves a call up. Presumably for Hunt.

I can't see why we would give Chess a fifth year. Yes, he's been hit with injuries but he just doesn't impact matches. He should be having a bigger impact in the magoos (WAFL) then he has been. I just don't think he's going to make it at the highest level.

It is so bleedingly obvious that Chesser needs a change in role. Please play him off half back in the WAFL for 4 weeks and see what happens. If that fails, give him the last month inside the midfield.

That way we can at least say we gave him a crack at some different roles.

In a positive for the WAFL squad, we should get back Owies, Hunt, Cole and Petrucelli next week along with Newton.

That is assuming Dewar is right to go and comes in for Hunt.

Some much needed experience.

This team really needs 3 or 4 experienced above average Wafl players to be more competitive. .

Disappointed with our recruitment in that respect before the season started
This will be so important next year
Sheed wants to play footy next year sign him up for our WAFL side
Jamie Cripps I would try make captain of the WAFL side the kids would learn so
much of him
Tom Cole the same
Offer Hunt a spot to but he will probably head back to Melbourne
We need Pike to get this done

He was drafted as a midfielder. Which is what the club needed and still needs. Unfortunately for him he did his ankle in the pre-season of 2022 and was out for the whole year. This undoubetdly would've had an impact on his confidence. That was evident during the games Simmo selected - and in the later part of last year - gifted him.

I'm a bit sick of hearing people suggest we play every man and his dog who is either not up to it or out of form to 'play him at half-back'. McCarthy and Allan have just gone there; Baker, Maric and Ginbey have also gone down there this year this year too. We can't play 12 HBFs!

Sure we can, it's what we've always done 🤷

All of those guys mentioned other than Baker, have been given the opportunity and tried in different positions and are now finally settling into their own - whether it be half back or wing in Maric’s case.

I think a guy we spent pick 14 on, that other than a 2-3 game stretch in the WAFL last year, has only played wing for 3 years (mostly without impact), deserves the chance to play anywhere else.

Trial it in the WAFL, it may or may not work, but we will know soon enough, rather than being left to wonder, after he is delisted what could have been.

Cole, Hunt etc potentially come back into the wafl system in the next few weeks, play them inside mid to protect Gross and other younger players and experiment with our young group to see if we can find a few more AFL quality players.

A marginal player currently working of form in the WAFL would have to have an epiphany of form to dislodge McCarthy, Ginbey, Baker and coy. Great to have competition now.

A what now?

Bruv if the Beagles lose Gross for Hunt (which I hope happens) they'll have literally nobody in their midfield this week.

Would have to play sweet price Grego back on ball where he belongs. Either that or Chesser stops wearing a G-string and does something.

A what now?
I believe what they're saying is that those players have to be visited by the specter of Jesus Christ who will grant them a Jesus like ability to play Australian Rules Football and dislodge those other players from our defensive back six. As represented by the Magi.

Yeah if Gross goes out the midfield is non existent. The other positions should be decent enough. Maybe key forward might be a struggle if AReid is rucking.

Time for a look at Chesser, Long and Newton in the guts.
