List Mgmt. Welcome Bo Allan (Pick 16, 2024 National Draft)

I haven't seen many WC games, but how has Bo settled in? Is he showing some good signs?

He’s been pretty solid the last couple of weeks when he’s been given full games. He’s being played off the back flank & has shown a few glimpses of the run & carry he can provide. He’s had a pretty interrupted start thought with an illness, suspension in his first AFL game & then getting dicked around getting **** all game time being played as sub.

If the club was in a better position Bo would be spending his time at WAFL level in the midfield to hone his craft there. As it stands he's been dicked around a bit and is playing more as a 7th defender. He has been decent all things considered but not a standout.

He projects as a fast wing to me who is good both ways and can take a midfield rotation in a few years. He is a bit of a project but has multiple elite attributes and his kicking has been better than expected which to me along with him being quite physically developed in relation to his draft group were his negative attributes.

I think he's more the normal 3-4 year player that needs the experience and gametime to build into his body, game and then make the right decisions. To me he projects more as a top 10-15 on a list player in a premiership quality side. So a core player but no superstar.

He does have 2 traits that hold him in good stead in regards to reaching the peak of his ability which is above that 10-15 mark and that is his leadership and drive to become better.

I see him taking that Jordan Dawson progression. Played as a back flanker, then moving into the midfield when has the experience and tank under him. He even has that left foot.
Dawson took a few years to get going, and Bo reminds me of him a bit.
I know alot of WC fans were annoyed at trading back, but getting him was a bonus.
The best WA kid, in a position you need, I think its a win.

The resemblance is there and obviously that is what everyone is hoping for. Bo is a bit faster than Dawson and imo has a better step. But even when watching Dawson at the very beginning he seemed to have a very high footy IQ. Whilst Dawson hasn't had his best kicking year I would suggest that overall Dawson was a better kick as well.

The funny thing with Dawson is that he was a forward as a Jr, and was drafted as one. Sydney obviously tried him down back and it worked. As a Jr he didn't show that rebounding and midfield craft that Bo did.
Anyway, I will enjoy following his progression, and I'm always happy to see the best WA and SA talent playing for their local teams, except for Dan Curtin.

Yes you definitely have a beauty in Dan, I just hope the club can unlock his massive upside wherever that is on the field. He is a huge talent.

Insanely negative take.

His speed and willingness to take the game on is very reminiscent of a very young Yeo. That said Yeo has alway had that physical style of play and even as a 19/20 was a very solid lad.

We do need mids but I actually don’t mind us building Allan as a flanker and then slowly including more wing/midfield time ove the years.

have to agree, Allan is a bit quicker than I thought watching him at AFL level, has enormous upside and that could be Yeo mini in the midfield once he develops his tank and tools.

Losing Yeo at the peak of his powers, the no 1 player in the AFL.... I know there's 1st world problems and all that, but I'm taking this travesty to my grave.

Robbed.

Hadn't seen any early footage of Yeo, but he had some serious speed and willingness to take the game on. Hope he still has some good footy left in him.

Was a super rebounder at Brisbane and could have become a sort of freakish Saad-Sicily hybrid in the backline

We turned him into a bit of an inside grunt after a while. Feel like we could have utilised him better overall, but we won a flag.

I can't use Dawson as a comparison when Dawson's most elite feature is his kicking, whilst disposal by both hand and foot is the biggest knock on Allan's game.

Quite impressed with how he moves though. Looked like one of the fastest players on the field when he puts the foot down.

Just got to keep pumping games into him and giving him more responsibility. Wouldn't mind a few CBD's coming in for Parto.

Cindy Moses at it again I would think. Fortunately we have a great record of dealing with ankles successfully.

It could be anything from the thigh down. Let's go for the worst possible outcome straight off the bat.
