Had our chances but just pissed it away.

And there were plenty of questionable calls but its the VFL so you just have to expect rubbish.

Disappointing to lose but that's probably the most exciting VFL game in terms of glimpses into the future we've seen this year.

Polk was superb. Molier showed a heap despite the brain fade that cost us. Edwards looked good. Even the rookies like Pike and Ivisic had some really good moments.

Polk, Clohesy, Bews, Capiron, Herbert all in the best.

Mollier and Edwards both showed flashes.

Hoffman has some talent too

Repco, Ivisic, Duncan ok .

Just not enough to get it done and hang on

Knevitt quickly kicking to a contest after that nice mark on the back flank with only a couple of minutes to go was brainless.
It wasn't a contest when he kicked it - Ballantyne was open & calling for it

But instead of attacking the ball in the air he waited for it and then tried to turn the incoming defender under it

Is it just me, or do Geelong VFL have a habit of conceeding good leads in the later 1/2 of the game to either lose or just narrowly win. I have noticed this for about the last three years. Can someone show me some stat's that show I am just imagining this.

Having so many underdone and then getting injuries is what cost us. Knevitt and Clohesy disappointing for mine. At this stage in their development, they should be able to impose themselves on a game late when it is tight. Unfortunately they are not capable of it.

He has the unique ability on our list to be available for selection

He does although he does better as a fwd/ruck with support from a main ruck which he doesnt have this year.

Yes, I have for some time thought that Knevitt would be a better choice as a tall defender than a mid. He has very good over head marking skills. I would like to see him fill out a bit more, but I really see him a as defender. He is much the same height as Kolodjashnij and Tom Stewart. I would definitely like to see him tried at half back.
I've been thinking the same for a while. I can see similarities with Andrew Mackie - same height, same build, both excellent marks, same laconic style. A tall HBF rather than a key back (he is still lightly built) with excellent intercept marking could be his go.

Kolo replacement?

Lack of rotations with injuries and underdone guys cost us-needed the game to finish 5 minutes earlier. Despite that brain fade moiler was really good and that's the best game I've seen Pike play for us. Something to work with there.
Clohesy and knevitt impactful as usual. I liked retschko again and Herbert consistent.

I noticed that a lot of Geelong players had hands on their knees at stoppages in the final term, but that posture was conspicuously abscent from the Richmond players.

In the VFL, no worries... In the AFL, no thanks.

Knevitt is every chance to be delisted at the end of the year imo.

Richmond were able to operate with a full bench for most of the first 3 quarters and were still running with 4 in the last

We started with 4 rotations in the first quarter but then went down to 3 after A Wiltshire came off

Back to 4 rotations in the second quarter as Molier came into the game

Then down to 3 rotations after halftime with Edwards out, and down to 2 by the end of the game with Duncan out

The lack of rotations really hurt and was telling by the end of the match, especially with a couple of first gamers in the mix who we may have wanted to not throw completely into the deep end of things, and a couple of others who looked sore & receiving treatment everytime they came to the bench

Our VFL list has been extremely inexperienced this year. Our top ups are mainly local kids and a lot of our AFL listed players recently have been first year players that were taken late (Pike, Polk, Retschko, Ivisic, Matofai-Forbes, Burke).

We are just not as fit as a team like Richmond today that was full of 20+ year old AFL listed players and top ups that have played years at VFL level.

It's the same reason that Essendon being the youngest AFL team at the moment fall away late.

Watched the last quarter. That’s a very poor loss. So daft by Molier. Knevitt’s choice of target late mind numbing. And was it Bews with no awareness coming out of 50 to get done HTB that led to their winning goal?

A tough watch.

Yes, it was noticeable, especially Retschko. There were some half hearted (half lunged?) chases in that term.

Thanks again Corrigan. Another L.
Can't tell if some of the people react-laughing were doing it lightly, but it's getting beyond a joke with this guy. So I'll just post edited highlights from my year of commenting on the board about this coach:

  • gifted a senior side at Casey
  • simplistic messaging at huddles
  • cannot / will not set up a defence properly
  • all the usual VFL excuses are already factored in

To say this team is a joke is to mean that I was literally joking to others during the game that we lose with the last kick after choking because that's what this team under this coach does.
