Maginess needs a full game either tagging Butters or on the ball to see if he can carry over his form from Box Hill

It seems as though we are trying him in the Will Langford role of father's son not good enough to play anywhere else so we will try and hide him in a tagging role in the forward line.

His main elite quality is endurance so bringing him on as a sub completely eradicates that.

I feel like he will play a full game and Bailey McDonald will be the sub because without Frenchy our midfield is even more bare than usual
There was 1 year in 2017 Langford was doing everything you could want from a defensive small forward except he kicked 7.15 and missed completely on some others.

Yes I remember that year

I'm not saying he wasn't good in terms of tackling but in my opinion if you're in the forward line consistently you need to be able to kick consistent goals when given the opportunity.
There were times where he would be lining up from 25 meters out with not much of an angle and there would be a 75% chance he would miss it

No excuses for not winning this one. And we should be looking to up our percentage while we're at it.

No Rioli, Powell-Pepper, JHF and Rozee may miss. All 4 of them caused us headaches last time.
Ratugolea out will hurt their structure, keen to get Lewis/Ramsden in
We should win this on one leg?

Surprised he didn't come straight back in...

We have dropped a mid and not replaced.

I thought we struggled in this area.

Finn is the replacement. BMac to sub.

I miss the days when, from kick in, Sicily would torpedo the ball 70m into the centre square, Mitch Lewis would pack mark it in the middle and then we'd break through the open field and score an uncontested goal. I believe the most underrated part of Lewis's game is his ability to push up, take marks in the middle and be part of a scoring chain, something that Chol or Dear seldom do
I believe that may have happened once.

Only once. 😉

That's why I said he did everything except kick the goals. He would have played a lot longer if he was converting at close to AFL average.

To your point:
Buddy, Rough, Hale, Gunston seemed to work pretty well

If we were to play say a GWS in a big final, you could use Gunston to draw Sam Taylor & leave to forward line open for the others like how Buddy did the same to Mcpharlin in 13
Surely we can’t compare the speed and agility of Buddy, Roughie and a 21 year old Gunner with Dear, Lewis and a 33 year old Gunner?

Hopefully Ramma, McKenzie, butler, Mitchell and Jiath all play box hill on Sunday.
Only four days between Box Hill and Carlton games so anyone who plays VFL is unlikely to come back in next week. We have Chol and Day coming back hopefully so should be ok.

Lewis never had, and never will have, the agility of Buddy or Roughy.

What he does have is better endurance than all of the players you named.

Finn is the best we have for a tagging role and if it is not why he is playing - I am confused with the selection logic. If he is not going to tag it would have been better McDonald play a full game and CJ came as the sub.

Don’t remind us Stratton Gun! There were times he was lining up from 25 metres out and there was a 50% chance he wouldn’t make the distance!! Not sure what happened to Will? Key part of our 2014 flag though!

He’s also a better mark and as good of a set shot. Whilst still being athletic (just not as much as them).

Don’t see the reason for people always looking to compare

Would give West Coast a run for their money I reckon. With Chol and Day likely to play next Thursday it only leaves Weddle and Mraz unavailable. Need to win this game and gather some momentum going into the last part of the season.
Chol and Daysy will both play next week against Carlton.

Righto gang this is it. Hinkleys narrative is port are undermanned, down on form, no one cares about what happened last time between the two sides, there's no beef, F that. This club hates us. They disrespected our club through their actions, carrying on as we were chairing off a club champion, and recently through their words in a very public way. Let's him hit em hard boys, let's hit em so hard they don't forget tomorrow, so hard that these campaigners question there spot in the AFL! Justice for the Greyhounds you killed Kenny and up the mighty fighting hawkas!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been a bit of talk about Ken getting Port fired up etc., but if our players aren’t equally pumped for this game I’ll be shocked.

We got embarrassed by Port earlier in the year, they also ran their mouths during and after the game like they’d won a grand final by 10 goals.

Hawks by 50.

Port people I know running with the injury line. Same people didn’t care when we had Day, Scrimshaw, Dear and Lewis out last time (plus a clearly hampered Sicily). Put them to the sword Hawthorn.
